  1. Feeding an Anemone

Make sure you are providing it with enough light. If its algae dies, it won't matter what you feed!
  2. Flatworms

Well after a discussion on Dr. Ron's forum, it may be that these guys eat other flatworms.. so it may be that these guys eat the orange flatworms. But it's all speculation at this point. Some biologist should dissect one & see what was in its belly!
  3. Flatworms

Someone said this guy is a flatworm. Does anyone know what they eat? Or why they are considered undesirable? I think they are kind of cool.
  4. What color temp for softies?

I just got my new 8800K 96W PC fixture that will go over my 30G Long aquarium. Once the DSB is in, I will probably be about 12" from lamp to sand... so less for anything on the LR. What color temp would be ideal? I only get one lamp and I plan on keeping softies in this tank. Currently I...
  5. South Down in KC

I still have like 12 bags of SD that people never picked up and I've given up on... So if anyone is interested in some South Down for $10/bag let me know. I'm in the Overland Park, KS area. You can e-mail me at [email protected] Mark [ August 27, 2001: Message edited by: dela ]
  6. I have Southdown in Kansas City!

Like the post says, I have a bunch of Southdown! I had to get a bunch in order for them to send me any, so now I have to get rid of the extra bags! With shipping I paid about $7 a bag. And it will probably take me at least 3-4 trips to pick all of them up with my little car. So I’m thinking...
  7. Live Foods

Hi guys.. I'm setting up a 20 gallon (50-75% strength sea water) tank that I'm planning on using to raise mollies in for food. I'll rig up some sort of basket so that the adults are confined to about a 10 gallon area while the babies are free to roam the tank and don't get munched on. Has...
  8. Fish is now replaced, new questions.

Why don’t you either lift the end of the return pipe so that it sits at water level and does not form a siphon, or drill a small hole right at water level for the same reason? Or you can put a mesh at the end of the pipe. This could happen again!
  9. Lights of America question

Hi guys, I'm about to buy one of those LOA fixtures for 29 bucks at HD and I want to know if anyone has tried running different lamps on there. Or will the ballast only run the lamp that comes in the fixture? I've heard of 65Watt lamps, but according to the lady I talked to, the box said 60...
  10. clown forced out of his host anenome!

I hope you have good lighting. If you manage to fix this situation and one of your anemones dies 6 months down the road, you may be faced with a similar situation only with a large maroon.
  11. anybody know if this is seasquirt on steriods?

If you want to get a better pic, then maybe shine light on him and leave it there. Eventually he may get used to it and come out. That's what I'm planning on doing with my unidentified creature!
  12. New tank suggestions

Well, I already have the shelf system that this will go on. It's 36x18 and will take 500 lbs per shelf, but I don't want to go too much over 350lbs per shelf. In addition, I didn't want to make the post too wordy by getting into details, so I just said they were both 30L's, but really, the top...
  13. New tank suggestions

Hello All, I'm setting up two new tanks. The tanks are 30 Gallon Longs and will sit one under the other. The plan is to have fish & LR in the lower tank and have the top as a refugium + misc tank. I'm doing the usual pump water from the lower tank into the top and let the top (drilled) tank...
  14. Setting up for a Shrimp/Goby Pair?

I wonder if putting in some kind of tub would help contain the digging? Say you put in a 4-1/2" tall Rubbermaid tub and your sand bed is 5" deep so it's completely buried. Then the shrimp digs all he wants within the confines of the tub, but has to turn a corner when he bumps up against a tub...
  15. Liquid Nitrogen to cool tank?

You could always just float a small plastic container/bag in your sump/tank and throw some ice cubes into it every few hours! I don't think Liquid Nitrogen would be practical.. not to mention dangerous & expensive. You would probably pay 10 times more for a LN containment unit than you would...
