    Hi, when i was purchasing bio balls yrs ago, i used a 10% of volume formula. So if your tank is 300 gal. Then somewhere near 30 gal would bemore than ample...again you will need alarge sump to house all these .. Good luck with your project.

    Mushies also need to acclimitise to the lighting not just the tank`s water.. Cut down the light time period and gradually increase back over some weeks.You may be blasting them with the light currently, therefore they are detaching trying to find better conditions.

    Several days before you go away, up the feeding regime slightly. Don`t go overboard!!!! They will be fine while you are away..

    Fluros are good for 6 months, after that they lose their colour spectrum and intensity.Once that happens the algae monster starts to come out.. :wink:

    Leave the air pump on , it is working better. Just tune the skimmer so that you don`t get tooo much wet foam .. 8)

    Hi, increase the flow.Point it lower, you may have dead zones, still water. Move the water about,get another PH it will help in gas exchange, (CO2). Cut back on feedings,are you using RO water for top ups?? When was the last time you replaced your lighting??Follow all of these and you will beat...

    Hi Ikarus. From what i have read it is anywhere between every two weeks and three months.test the water for yellowing and then you will know its time to renew the carbon.

    Water movement is also needed to assist in the exchange of CO2. Do you have adequate water movement in the tank? CO2 can build up and help the algae grow along with the other minute traces of nutrients.Since you have seen a decline in the algae i`m certain your on the right track. :)

    The skimmer will need time to get a coating in order for the skimmate to start producing,just be patient.Don`t overfeed! :roll:

    Your tank is so new ,there is no reason to be tampering with the water paramaters.If you do have to make changes, do it over a great length of time.make the adjustments over a 24 hour period to minimise stress on the inhabitants.Another way is to do a large water change,that usually brings...

    It may be to do with depth of the tank and lighting.Are the tanks the same depth? What sought of lighting on the new tank?An unhappy anomene is a wandering one. If it stays put it only needs some time to acclimatise to the new variables in the new tank.
