  1. What type of Salt

    Instant Ocean
  2. tank pics, looking for comments

I wouldn't worry about the trigger. Niger and Blue Throat Triggers are "fairly" reef safe. I would be careful if you have small shrimp such as peppermint or camel. Larger shrimp such as cleaner or Coral Banded should be fine as long as the trigger isn't too large. I would be very concerned...
  3. THE NOISE, I CAN'T STAND THE NOISE!!

Why not go with a smaller external pump and make up for the diffrence with power heads or other wavemaking device such as the Tunze Turbelle, ReefTec, or Wave2K. If you want a completely silent pump, go with the CSL Velocity pump-it will however add a few degrees to your water. GRI pumps are...

  5. What's your favorite fish???

    Definately my Copperband
  6. Reefsafe butterflies

Mark I have a Copperband in my tank. I've only had it for a few weeks, but so far its been a model citizen. I have various SPS, LPS, and Leathers...it doesn't even look at them. I will occasionally see it picking at the rocks...I'm assuming its looking for pods. I've heard of people keeping CB...
  7. ushio175 10k bulbs any good ?

I use Ushio 10K and love them. I supplement mine with Actinic VHO's to achieve my desired color. Keep in mind that everyone likes something diffrent. If your looking for a nice crisp white-This is the bulb for you. Quick question, why 175 watt MH? I bought 175's and now wish I would have gone...
  8. Looking for Pics of in-wall reef set-ups

Steve Looks like your making awesome progress. Keep us posted. Here is a pic of my in-wall setup: The tank is a custom Oceanic 155gal (60x25x25). It was installed in April '02, all of the rock and some of the corals were moved from my 120 which had been up for a couple of years. I have...
  9. Looking for information on putting a reef tank in the wall

With a 75 you shouldn't run in to any of the problems that the larger tanks run in to....ventilation, humidity, etc. In your case I would focus on building the stand, providing enough electrical outlets (dedicated 20amp circuits), and water hookups. A couple of things to consider is clearance...
  10. Hair and Valonia Algae In New Setup??? (Pictures)

The hair algae is normal but I would try to pull as much out as possible. I would also try to remove to Valonia Algae (be careful to to break it). It sounds like your off to a great start. If your looking for a few freebies (Marco or anothe local reefer) to help add some life to your tank let...
