Hi, I just bought some yellow, red, and brown gracilaria algae. Within a couple of days, their colors seem to have changed. The yellow especially has become a light brown. Anyone have any idea why and if it's a cause for concern? Thanks.

hdtran, I had quite a few of those and never fed them. When my tank recently crashed I took a close look at the liverock and discovered that there were some small baby ones too so they seemed to do just fine filtering from the water on their own.

FL_Seagull, It doesn't really look like the picture in the Hithchiker's FAQ. The algae in that picture looks flat and is very branched... The length of mine was round and had only a few short branches ending in sharp tips.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will try it and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, I may have to invest in a better and smaller heater. My tank is small enough that if I have it in the tank, it really does take up a considerable amount of space.
