  1. Aqualine Spacelight HQI fixtures ..

I have the AquaSpacelight 3x250 w/PC actinics. I like it a lot, this is my first MH fixture so I don't have anything to compare it against. They don't have fans, just vents on each end of the fixture and over each MH bulb. The ballasts are all internal to the unit. There are 2 plugs one for the...
  2. Yet another Aquaspacelight question

Well, I decided on the Aquaspacelight 3x250W w/4x24W PC actinics. It arrived on Thursday and "big surprise" it was dropped enroute, presumably by UPS. And one of the glass UV filters shattered. I spent most of Saturday taking the fixture apart and vaccuuming out the shattered glass. When I...
  3. SWR 9500 pumps

Maybe they mean 90 liters/minute. That would give you about 1350gph. [ January 09, 2002: Message edited by: fnj ]</p>
  4. AB AquaspaceLight questions

Thanks for all of the replies. Yam: I really like the color and growth that I've seen with the 20K Osram bulbs. But if I go with the 3x400W MH and 4x160W actinic it will cost me about $110 a month in electricity. In comparison the AB fixture will only cost me about $45 a month. So I don't mind...
  5. AB AquaspaceLight questions

Well I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and buy my lighting fixture. After reviewing all the information I could find, and changing my mind at least a million times on what type of lighting I should get, I've settled on the AB AquaSpacelight 3x250w HQI w/ 4x24W PC actinic (I think...
  6. Minimum curing time for silicone

Thanks guys. I let it sit dry for about 3.5 hours just to be sure I just got finished and I'm glad that's over with. It was a very stressful and agravating day. I hope this partition holds better than the last. Thanks again.
  7. Minimum curing time for silicone

I have a bit of an emergency. I just came home from a week long business trip and the partition that separates my refugium from my sump is starting to separate. The water level in the refugium has now dropped to match the water level in the sump. It is just a matter of time till the whole...
  8. is this aiptasia??

I've been having success with Part I of B-Ionic and the pointy syringe from the Salifert Calcium test kit. I just jab the point of the syringe into the hole the aiptasia goes into and inject the whole syringe of the solution into it. It only takes one application and they haven't come back since.
  9. Has Anyone Enlarged Slots on Overflow?

I have a 125g AGA tank and I too removed every other slot and the rubber strip. I'm able to keep both of my reutrn pumps running full out, but the water is still a little high. So, I'm acutally considering removing all of the slots and using the gutter guard to protect fish from going into the...
  10. Thread fin goby

naesco, I placed two pieces of LR in the Q-tank and fed him this morning and he did eat. He still looks pretty stressed out. I have him in the basement with the tank light out. Nobody goes down there and I only checked on him in the morning and in the evening. He just looks very very nervous...
  11. Thread fin goby

I just bought a thread fin goby last night. He is currently in my 10g quarantine tank. The only thing in the tank is a 1 1/4" x 6" piece of PVC, no substrate. My question is, is it okay to leave him in quarantine or is it better to move him to the main tank immediately. He looks very stressed...
  12. Is this too much flow???

I don't think that 2 Quiet One's on a 125g tank is excessive flow at all. I'm currently running 2 Iwaki MD-55RLT pumps on my 125g and I think I don't have enough flow. I was thinking about adding my LG4 pump on a closed loop. It also depends on what you want to keep in your tank. I plan on...
  13. Loc- line Tubing

No it does not, it is water tight. Dave, Loc-line is the ball and socket hard tubing.
  14. Who has drilled their AGA overflow grill?

I took a pair of needle nose vise grips to mine and removed every other "tooth" in my AGA overflow. I probably should have used tin snips or even better a dremel tool, but I didn't have either. It increased my flow dramatically. I went from running a LG4 at 3/4 capacity to running 2 Iwaki...
  15. Help me decide on plumbing for my new 4,800 gph pump.

Nathan, It sounds like the easy solution is to replace your return pump. A few questions though. Do you currently have a problem with microbubbles not dissapating running 1800gph through your sump? Do you think running 4800gph through the sump will too much to allow the bubbles to dissapate...
