That is a good thought. I may try that. I am also wondering if it has to do with the BTA being verticle not flat. Would that make a difference with the clowns?

I have 2 Percula Clowns about 2 yrs old or so that I received from another reefer. I bought a BTA 3 days ago and they havent even sniffed it. I know there is no complete answer but I was wondering from others experience how long before they will cozy up to it? Thanks

A power filter will keep good top water movement. This is what I use for mechanical filtration mostly. It also has the "bio-wheel" which I am sure helps. But just make sure to keep the pad clean.

FWIW I just bought the Current sunpod MH 150w 14k with the lunar lights and I love the light output of the fixture. Fixture is really well built. My tank is 24 in deep and I think I should be able to keep a clam on the bottom. I attached a coupld of pics of how it lights the tank.
