Aren't damsels fun! Here are a couple of methods that have worked for me
I cut the ziplock ends off of a large plastic bag (to make it harder to see in the water)then let the bag float open behind some hiding holes.
I also made my own fish trap by sacrificing one of my siphoning tubes. I...
I must be growing some tasty xenia - I had no problems for at least 6 months then a 2" by 3" section way up on the back wall of my tank disappeared overnight. Since then I have caught my peppermint shrimp and several green chromis munching away.
I had the same thing happen - overnight two patches of xenia practically disappered - I always blamed some unidentified hairy crabs (which I finally caught after much frustration)
but your post got me wondering since I had a peppermint shrimp at the same time - what kind of cleaner shrimp do...
My vote for MO livestock goes to Etropicals
http://www.etropicals.com/
I experienced excellent customer service and the prices for what I ordered were very competative!
Thanks - I found the survey and a couple of posts I had missed.
Why wouldn't pods/ml be more accurate? I would assume that there could be alot of varitey of life with LR. And I do have access to an unlimited supply of rotifers - is that still negated by my low LR to mandarin ratio? am I just...
So far all the "no"'s refer to importance of food and damsels seem to be of little concern (am I right?)
I really would appreciate specific info on food density requirements? ie copepods per ml
I see tons of pods at night in the main tank and with a ten gal set up for food I thought it would...
Thanks for all the info - more tank specs - approx 75 lbs live rock with approx 2 inch live sand bed - no sump - just CPR Bak Pak
Havent come across literature regarding a specific food density - I could do a couple of nighttime samples - so what food density (copepods per ml) would be optimal...
I have a 48 gal reef tank that has been set up about 1 1/2 yrs - I would love to add a mandarin goby - tank has tons of copepods I really think one would do well - the only other fish are 2 blue damsels - my original plan was to take them out - but with all the live rock I have I was wondering I...
I buy mine directly from ESV - great prices and shipping. I started wtih 64 oz ($15 + change) to see if I liked it. They offer refil units of all sizes ( 2 gal at 31.00). http://www.esvco.com

if it helps - consumer reports just did a great comparison on digital cameras - sorry I don't remember what issue but check out the library - and prices just keep going down

I had a lot of luck with peppermint shrimp - cleaned everything up within a week and haven't bothered any of my corals or critters (that I have noticed). They even spawned and provided grubbies for other tank inhabitants. I thought nudibrachs would be a really interesting addition to my tank and...
Another vote for etropicals. I ordered one of their reef packages (shipping is included in total price) and was very pleased with my order and customer service !!!
I highly recommend eTropical - pretty good prices - they have free shipping for some packages right now - their great customer service is what won me over!
