1. What Is It?

Well, you did guess it may eat sponges as part of it's diet. (The mantle covers the shell, so it appears 'soft'.) We'll skip the spanking this time. My wife might get the wrong idea anyway... [ January 02, 2002: Message edited by: Redneck Cowboy ]

2. What Is It?

My wild guess. A limpet. Scutus Unguis or Scutus antipodes. http://www.seaslugforum.net/scutus.htm Now Mary, as an importer, you should have gotten this one. We'll spank you later. For pennance surf www.seaslugforum.net LOL! I'll bet it came on your LR. They eat algae, and...
3. 6500 vs 10000k pictures.....

No Prob. Sorry about the comparison. *nod* on the crop. Now I understand. After reading about all the photographic options on the camera my head is swimming. Never had a camera before...
4. 6500 vs 10000k pictures.....

LOL! I just figured out how to take a bad picture with the damn thing! 'Crop'? You mean save it as a smaller image? BTW, You're wrong. It's the left. I changed it to a link. I was beginning to worry about the state of mind of folks from Nashua, NH. Maybe it's the water. Let's see, there...
5. 6500 vs 10000k pictures.....

Personally, I'm convinced you have the wrong Iwasaki. Just for laughs, in the pic below, which side of the tank is running the 2 month old 400W Ushio 10K and which is running the 14 month old 250W Iwasaki? (Yes, they are supplemented by VHO actinics. 6 footers, so it's even)...
6. Water movement survey

4500 GPH on my 180. I'd like more. I have an Iwaki 70 and an Ampmaster 3000 between the sump and closed loop.
7. who is this guy anyway??

LOL! The products seem to have some value. I'm unsure if this goes beyond the mere entertainment value... You have to admit the marketing is a stitch! What's next: "VooDoo Vital?". Kills cynao with Bad Mojo! This is the story of the American Dream. No?
8. MH vs PCs

The electric cost arguement, that PC/VHO uses less power than MH rated for the same watts is true. On a practical sense, this is especially true for the electronic ballasts, which light the flourescent lamps differently than a tar ballasts and often draw less than the rated bulb wattage and...
9. Decent Chicago LFS/MO operation re-opens.

Splash of Life (Some of you remember this mail order/LFS coral place, in Elgin) re-opened this weekend. I swung by. Brett gave up on the retail storefront biz/partnership (Advanced Aquatics). It's back to the the original form, like shopping a coral wholesaler. (www.splashoflife.com Lame web...
10. pump size for reef devil 3

I used to use a Sen 700
11. How much LR to make a rock wall in 180g?

I've got about 300lbs in my 180. It's not a full 'wall-of-rock'. Yet it is really a few pounds more than might be optimal. My DSB helps, so I don't need to rely on LR exclusively.
12. 180G-240G I am now interested...

You'll be very happy with both. Cost goes up a bit with the 240. (4)Halides, bigger chiller, skimmer. More Rock/sand. No 8ft VHO...But it would look awesome. Then again, you were considering a 135, the 180 may be perfect.
13. Starphire 135g or regular 180g?

Go 180. It's a great tank size. Use a DSB, to minimize your need for LR. You would seriously regret getting the 135. It's too skinny. Repeat your new mantra: 6x2X2,6x2X2,6x2X2...
14. 10k bulbs anyone have current comparrisons?

quote:
Originally posted by David Grigor: IMO: 65K Bulb is the best option for 250W MH. If you want a higher K bulb then you should step up to 400W to compensate for the lost...
15. DIY Ca Reactor

Ahh...Someone hade that link. I have a mod of the Joshi design too. Added a simple second chamber, and use 3" unions at the top of each stage for filling. Sanjay's design works great. Barely breaks a sweat keeping my 180 tank and 68g sump at 440Ca/13dKh. I highly recommend it. It keeps my...
