I have an ASM skimmer on my large tank and three Euroreefs on other tanks. I like the ASM very much and wouldn't hesitate in buying another. I like the way the collection cup connects to the skimmer better on the ASM.
My vote for Ice Cap they are quite and push alot of air that speeds up when needed and slows down when not needed by a thermostate. I've used computer fans and they make more noise and are one speed. If you don't need a lot of air movement then you can go with a low CFM computer fan they don't...
Chromis are stored and shipped from there orgin very crowded. So many are stressed and the weaker die off. I think cyanide is more of a problem with fish that stay close and in the reefs that are hard to catch. Chromis are in large schools and usually easy to catch.
Best way and easiest is a diamond core bit. 1 3/4 for a 1" bulkhead. Use the dam method and a little water antifreeze mixture. You can do a hole in about 2 minutes and the bit will last many holes if you don't get it to hot. Bits can be bought online for about $50 at Ameri glass...
unplug the white plug that goes into ballast and with the power on slowly push the plug back in. This may work. I use to have the same problem with 72" bulbs.
Diamond bit is the way to go. I've used both tube&carbide and diamond. Diamond is much easier! I paid $40 for 1 3/4" bit from a stainglass online company, I think ameriglass or something like that. I have drilled many holes with no problem. Use clay or plumbing puddy for dam. Put half...
Howdy,
First off both pumps will work. The Mag will add more heat to the tank than the Mak4. The Mag is more likly to leak although they have improved on the pump housing and may have corrected this problem. The Mak will most prob last longer and handle back pressure better but don't let...
Howdy,
To answer this question. Some corals will do fine with this light other won't. This is a fairly low light reef. Do a little research and fine out what the light requirements are for the corals you have. For now the corals that aren't doing well try placing them higher in your tank.
Tommy,
First thing you need to do is run the Penguin without the biowheel and take the sponge filter out. Also any other biofilter that in the system. The live rock is your biofilter. You may want to place a powerhead lower in your tank to get more flow around the rock.
What you do is on the inside you put a 90 up and a strainner on top . This way you have the advantage of adjusting the water level where you need it. The strainers can be bought at www.aquaticeco.com....Done it this way many times. Get your plumbing first so you know where to drill the return to...
A couple more thoughts:
Buy your bulkheads first so you can get the holes drilled the correct size. I like 3/4" pump return but 1/2" is good on small tanks and get a larger for the return to sump so you know you have enough to keep from overflowing say 1 or 1 1/2"
On the pump return on the...
Lower price tanks use tempered glass on the bottom because they can use thinner glass and is cheaper to make. The backs aren't useally tempered. At least I haven't seen any and I'm a old fart, hehe. Yes you don't have to have a box at all. The only draw back is the tank will have to be about 4"...
