  1. Hi! My name is George and I can't stay away from the LFS!

investigator1, you've got your tank in the kitchen??? Doesn't grease and stuff from frying get into the water? sorenb
  2. Help Find a Cure for Cancer

I joined. And stopped my SETI program (which haven't found any ETI in spite of years of calculating). If I knew it existed, I would have joined earlier. I hope this small contribution will help. sorenb
  3. Introducing Reefs.org's 2004 Calendar!

How did you know I needed a calender??? Luckily they ship to Europe. Looking forward to get it! With the small current dollar value - it's even cheap :) sorenb
  4. Urchin spawn?

LOL, do you inject it with KCl first??? Otherwise it may not work methinks. sorenb
  5. Urchin spawn?

Nice pics! My tuxedo urchin did the same thing a short while ago. I assumed it was sperm, since I gather eggs would be larger?? The fish was also interested, but didn't seem to be able to feed on it as such. sorenb
  6. Zooanthids

Zoanthids are not generally a problem. I have several different beautiful types, they all behave well. sorenb
  7. live sand or live rock first?

If rocks are place on sand, they may tumble down on the unsuspecting creature that happens to like digging around in the sand. I would put the rocks in first due to this. sorenb
  8. GARLIC CLOVES CURED MY ICK

I mean no offence, but be prepared that you may be witnessing the natural life cycle of cryptocaryon irritans, and not a cure or stabilization. The parasite spends 4-7 days on the fish, whereafter they leave to multiply in the substrate. Some weeks from now you may witness a reoccurrence of...
  9. help ICK

You will need to do some research regarding ich, since the easy "cures" like garlic and FW dips are highly disputed. Here are some links: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/ ... /mini1.htm http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-08/sp/index.htm http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-10/s ...
  10. 400 watts through my arm, how dangerous?

Go seek medical attention. I've had some electric shocks to my arm, but the wierd feeling only lasted about 2 hours, not 6. -sorenb
  11. Help my one day old fish is sick!

Although some people are comfortable with having the ich parasite (cryptocaryon irritans) present in their tanks, remember that you now have a good oppertunity to eradicate the parasite since you only have one fish to take care of. Many people have had fish die from ich even though they fed...
  12. Can I freshwater dip snails, caulerpa urchin?

My LFS obviously have red flatworms, since the items I bought now have infected my quarentine tank with flatworms. (hooray for quarentine 8) ) Can I give flatworm-killing 45 second freshwater dips to any of the following: Turbo snail Astrea snail Caulerpa (different types) Tuxedo urchin...
  13. Slow Inverts?

I would be pretty sure myself that it was the fixture (light right?). It may well have released metals (and other things) into the water. If there was any power connected to it, a lot of copper (perhaps other metals as well) will have been released in the water by electrolysis (although I'm no...
  14. Slow Inverts?

Hi, sorry to hear about your tank. Did you do any changes on the tank recently? Any maintenance the day before the happening? Could the temperature have jumped? Any fumes from painting or pest control? Did any pump burn out? Any electricity in the water? Dropped any metal items in the water...
  15. air pump on a venturi skimmer

hi, when I tried to "help" my venturi by pumping air into it, it only made the bubbles larger. Large bubbles are not good skimmers. Have your bubble size changed :?: sorenb
