  1. Taking break from hobby - Bellus Angelfish & Occellaris pair FS

Hi everyone, former MR member who got pulled away from the board years ago due to a growing family. I've had my 90G tank up and running for about 10 years, but between little time to spend puttering on the tank due to family activities and a PITA eunicid worm hitchhiker that defies ALL attempts...
  2. New Jerseyian Introductions

Hey guys, Steve from Montclair here. I've been in the hobby for about 6 years now with a 90G mixed reef tank. Just moved from West New York, and honestly am amazed at how well everything in the tank tolerated the move. It's nice to be close to Absolutely Fish now! Looking forward to getting...
  3. Cleaning pumps?

I have a Sequence Marlin pump for my CL. It's been over a year since I set up my reef tank, and I'm thinkin' that maybe, just maybe, it's time to do a little maintenance on my pumps! :headache: I've got a big jug of white vinegar, but my question is, how do you soak an external pump like my...
  4. WTB ball of chaeto

thanks everybody! Octavious, where in Edgewater are you Thur-Sat? That would be the best match for me, as my wife and I are dealing w/ a month-old baby now. Every minute counts!
  5. WTB ball of chaeto

Anyone around WNY, NJ that has chaeto to offer?
  6. t5 v MH

yup, i'm keeping LPS and SPS and a crocea (1 week!) under 6 48" T5 bulbs. I've actually scorched two colonies of hitchhiking SPS located in the top 1/3 of the tank. the individual reflectors are the key. I've got IceCap and Tek reflectors; the IC ones are nicer. also, T5 bulbs last longer...
  7. Echinophyllia tank placement?

    sweet. thanks Alex.
  8. Echinophyllia tank placement?

I just bought a Hot Tamale Echinophyllia frag, and was wondering where you all thought I should place it in my 90G tank, lit by T5s w/ individual reflectors? This species of coral is new to me. If anyone's interested, here's a pic of the coral...
  9. Frag Swap Auction - Spring 2007

I'll be bringing at least one green striped shroom. Don't really know how to frag them yet, but I've got 2 of 'em migrating around my tank, and I'll be happy to donate those. Presently only 1 is visible though. Puny donation, but I hope it helps! The others from this colony swell to the...
  10. Hello y'all

Have to say that Texas has the Cadillac of highways. I helped a friend move/drive from Austin out to San Diego. The highways were glass smooth. Not as cool as the banked exit ramps in SoCal though (which just encourages high speed exits and visions of NASCAR). Welcome Marc. Thanks for...
  11. I Killed My Phot Gorgonians

Sorry to hear that Leslie, but I think I topped your gorg murder. :( Richard from TampaBay Saltwater gave me a huge, 2 NBA player's handspans purple sea fan with my TBS rock package. Two months into my tank, it began shedding flesh near the tips of all its branches, and that necrosis...
  12. Saying "Hi" to MR - new arrival

ellebelle, Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I do spot feed it, every night except for when a hermit or shrimp manages to steal the food out of the brain before it can envelope the bits of food w/ it's tentacles. Very cool to watch. It hasn't really colored up at all from that. Would...
  13. Saying "Hi" to MR - new arrival

Hi everybody. Just thought that I'd update my thread w/ some pics finally. my 2 skunk cleaner shrimp: any ideas what this hitchhiking orange stuff is on the rock? Cyano bacteria starting up in my sump's fuge. I managed to get rid of it by installing an MJ400 in the fuge to move the water...

  15. Whats a normal behavior for sea cucumbers?

i have a black cuke that came w/ 3 others on my TBS LR. unfortunately, unless they're buried in the sand, i only have 1 of the 4 original cukes. maybe the others starved? But to further answer your question, mine alternates time on the sand with time hanging from the glass. he moves very...
