If you spend enough time walking the streets of manhattan I think you would be hard pressed to believe aliens haven't made it here yet. To think that we are the only life forms in the universe is absurd. We have found planets that we believe contain the same parameters as earth in varying stages of development and that's just the ones we can see with our current technology. Life on earth is carbon based and this is because earths environment supports carbon based life. On another planet there could be life based on numerous other elements under conditions we would assume to be uninhabitable by anything. It's also kind of crazy to just assume they are all more advanced than us and can freewheel around the universe at will. There might be species out there that can, but with the presumed age of the universe and our own planet there could be planets out there just forming their lipid bubbles, the precursor to cellular development. In which case we have a few million years before we have to worry about them coming here lol.
