:bump:

Starting to think about winter and my mango tree, what should i do with it during the winter?

Was thinking of setting up an indoor lighting system on a timer, what do you guys think?

The trees about 1 foot now, with 4 sets of leaves:)

people use grow light for indoor plants. the color look funny but it works well. many customers of mine report great results over MH.

For really good indoor grow lighting, you need MH or sodium lamps...preferably one of each, to get a full spectrum. Plant growers are only now discovering t-5 and PC fluorescents...obviously, they are marketed in a different kelvin range from what we use on a reef. The traditional grow lights are NO flourescents...I have a set-up for my orchids. They are great and inexpensive, but not useful for plants that need strong light. Also, those reddish-purple "growlights" or "plant bulbs" are totally unnecessary and a waste of money..they have far fewer lumens than regular bulbs. The thing to do is simply pair up regular cool whites with warm whites to extend the spectrum...I use 3 CW and 1 WW in each 4 bulb fixture.

Thry the screw-in cf's that are equivalent to 150wts, in silvery reflective fixture. Don't bother at all with the small NO bulb...at that size its useless for anything. Try to get as many of the crew in bulbs as you can...try different brands, also. Each one seems to have slightly different spectrum.
