Warren, Kasei has red hair when he doesn't shave :)

Crox the Toureg is nice but looking for a smaller more efficient SUV.

Dj Orion, I haven't looked at the nissans yet but I plan on it.

I was at the acura dealer tonight and the 09 RDX is pretty sweet. I didn't test ride it yet though. Going to check out the x3 tomorrow.

From my experience, i had more problem with BMW then Acura.

Did you check 08 X3's price? I think its a bit more then the RDX and HID is optional. If you ever drive with HID at night, you can't go back to regular headlights. :) And the all new X3 is coming along...

One of my family members has the new X3 and I have been in it alot this year, couple things I can say is its alot more roomier than the RDX, (especially in the back) in my opinion looks better and from the above comments 17/22 on the gas mileage is not great at all for a 4 cylinder (especially at almost 35k) duno exactly what the X3 gets but If your going that route might as well look into a hybrid ,..Also the BMW service is free for your minor things (oil changes etc.) .. if you plan on purchasing it and not leasing it (the rdx) the turbo maintainance maybe an issue down the road ...

when we test drove both the x3 and RDX i found quite the opposite. The X3 has WAY less interior room and less trunk space. The reason my wife needed it was she had to have alot of storage room for hauling stuff around for work. I am 6'3" and couldn't sit comfortably in the back of the X3 and the RDX i had plenty of Room. x3 has the roughly the same HP and Fuel Economy as the RDX. 4 cylinder TURBO is a bit different than a 4 cylinder. When you are getting 240hp out of a 4 cylinder engine you can't expect the same fuel economy that you would get w/ a toyota Yaris.

We are actually averaging about 25 mpg in the RDX, so it's a bit better than the rating. BMW service is free for 36,000 miles but quickly becomes way more expensive once those free oil changes run out. Acura doesn't care where you get serviced as long as you use Mobile 1 synthetic. So there is a big savings considering BMW says u MUST use a BMW dealer for maintenance and the dealer always charges more.

Honda/Acura has proven to be much more reliable and has a much lower true cost to own than BMW. I have owned turbocharged vehicles for the past 10 years and turbo maintenance has never been an issue.

Like i said the X3 is a nice car, but to buy all the a la carte options from BMW in order to match the features of the RDX you will be paying alot more money. Plus X3 looks more like a girl car :lol2:

Something with a flex fuel option, because if gas keeps going up That will be really big...

i don't think you will ever see ethanol cost less than gas. The flex fuel idea was good on paper but the ethanol push sparked a food shortage and the price of produce shot up when all the farmers decided to switch to corn to get the tax break.

Steven, the CRV isn't a bad car,I like it. I am averaging about 20mpg. I have been having steering problems. The entire car vibrates when making a sharp turn. Honda said I have to change the differential fluid. Since the value of the car depreciated so much in 1 year I don't want to keep it anymore. For the money I lost I could be driving a much nicer car. I rarely keep a car more than 2-3 years anyway :)

If your not keeping a car for more then 2 or 3 years. You are the perfect person to lease. If you buy a car and sell it in two or three years you will always be losing money. For someone who likes to switch alot you should never buy. Unless you are looking to keep a car for longer then 4 to 5 years. At least that is my opinion.

Well put.
As Warren mentioned, they are giving away SUVs right now. No one wants them with the high gas prices. If you want REAL value go buy an off lease vehicle. Everyone leases but how many 4 year old cars do you see on the road? None. Everyone gives the car back to the dealership and the dealership has no one to sell them to. They end up selling them for very little to a wholesaler who ends up auctioning them. I know a few people that traded their high end cars back in after lease and ended up buying them back for WAY less than the buyback.

I agree except if you cannot live within the mileage restrictions of the lease.

You need to keep in mind how many miles you drive each year and make sure it fits otherwise it can be very costly.

rich if your having steering problems i woudlnt say it's the fluid { i work at a honda dealership } and if it is a 07 and you dont have over 36k take it in, should be a warrenty situation, the nissan murano is really nice as well as the subaru tribeca, only down fall to a lease is mileage allowed and after 3 yr's you own nothing, not sure about the rest, but our nissan is running really nice lease deal's. are you more looking for just 4 wheel drive or something you can haul in also, and if you think the honda had a high depriciation, what till you see the other company's. honda has the best re-sell value, { the crv does suck on gas though and way under powered }

Noob I know what you're saying about owning nothing after a lease but If I sell the car after 2 years I lost quite a bit of money anyway.
I took a look at the Nissans and I don't see anything eye catching. I was looking for more car than a rogue and the Murano was nice but it has a V6 and isn't the greatest on fuel and gets very expensive loaded.
Basically that leaves me with
Acura RDX
VW Tijuan
BMW x3 (which does look like a chick car)
???
and the Homer :)

Haven't test driven the tiguan yet. I will do so in the next couple of weeks and make my decision. As of now I do like the RDX best but we'll see what #'s the dealers work out.
