WOW good saves by the NYC Emergency Services! What would we do without them?

Agree with Reefers and Dom. Also have to give the credit to the local ferries who rushed to the scene and help. They had those people getting off that plane in minutes.

:scratchchin: I wonder how they would have gotten all the survivors to safety if not for all that extra boat traffic?

Steven

The harbor unit had 3- 55' launches on scene, 2 36' launches
there were 2 Helicopters that carry 2 large life rafts ( can hold 12 people)
1 helicopter had 2 rescue divers.
Scuba was there with a rib boat. I'm sure harbor George and harbor Adam were on thier way from the other side of the city with 2 launches each.
the harbor unit is prepared to handle such an emergency and train monthly for such an event.
USCG was also there with a couple of launches
also FDNY had launches there as well
the ferries did a great job no doubt! but the pilot did a better job the cabin was 95% dry time wasn't of the essence

there was definitely a divine intervention there
in my career I responded to 4 plane crashes couple of Cessna's, flight 405 off LGA runway and flight 800 they weren't as pretty

Brian was right if it wasn't for pilot it would have been a recovery effort not a rescue effort

how many of us would have gotten right back on a plane and continued on with our business???

No doubt about the pilot. He broke off his scheduled route when he realized what was happening. It was either crash on land in NJ or crash in the water. A very selfless act by him and his co-pilot.

Kudos to them and to everyone involved in the rescue effort.

The plane did`t sink because the pilot hit a button that seals off the bottom part of the plane to keep it afloat in an abort mission over water. Great job by all!!!!!!!!

all the credit goes to his skills he kept that landing as smooth as can be and the plane stayed together!
he easily could have caught a wing and tore it causing a tumble the plane would definitely have come apart
