Hawaii or the Bahamas?

Where would you go and why? Be very specific about why you would choose one and not the other Looking to get an idea of where it would be more fun to take a little vacation to.

You will get a lot more for your money in the Bahamas. It is a lot closer and if you shop around you will find some deals.

both are good, both are fun, been to each a few times, both great beachs and marine life. bahamas has Atlantis & casinos. However, if the price is 'close', its Hawaii all the way. hawaii has unbelieveable site seeing... great reefs, how about snow capped mountains! volcanos, lava fields, a 30 mile bicycle ride down hill, from mountain top to beach, (a little peddling, alot of braking!). If you have the time (at least a week) go to Maui, maybe day trip to Oahu &/or big island, but plan on an extra day off, when you return after an 11+ hour flight. bahamas can be done anytime, even a weekend trip. you're welcome to call me for more info and ideas. If it doesn't work out, you can come to westchester to see my tanks, and for fun...I'll let you drive my car! :splitspin bring Chief with you!

Well, if you don't want to go as far as Hawaii, and you want to do snokling and beach...the Cayman Islands is a good choice...better than the Bahamas for that.

I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. Never been to the Bahamas, but I have to assume it is much like the rest of the carribean. Like Albano said there is much more to see and do in Hawaii.

At this time, I'd go Hawaii. You can find some amazing deals on flghts and there is much more to do there. My suggestion would be to island hop (that's what I have done both times I've been out there) and it's amazing. The Bahamas is nice too but it just doesn't compare to Hawaii.

Maui has a lot to do.

Kaui is nice and relaxing.

The big island has Pearl Harbor.

Hawaii is just amazing.

Bahamas

In my oppinion for the money Bahamas is great 2 1/2 hrs and u are in paradise and the deals are great rite now i just booked my second trip there 2 weeks ago and cant wait for October to come, here are some pics from last year. www.sandals.com great deals rite now.

Hawaii hands down!!! My wife and I have been to both and favor Hawaii.I would move there in a heartbeat!! I have it all planned out but she won't let me.:lol2:
While the Bahamas is nice you can always go even for a weekend like some other members mentioned. It's about 3-4 hours as opposed to Hawaii's 11 hour trip. I didn't find 11 hours to be a problem due to the fact that I go to Greece every year and that's a 10 hour return flight.

Hawaii has awesome beaches, better weather,scenic mountains with waterfalls.Rent a jeep and explore!
Snorkeling is great and don't be surprised if you see a sea turtle next to you.
We went in February so we saw the whales breaching everywhere plus you can hear them while snorkeling.
I would recommend a Helicopter tour and catamaran ride if you do go.
The only drawback is it can be expensive(so is NY).
Botton line is you will probably will get one chance in your life to go so do it! Take me with you:shhh:

hawaii hands down. the sun is nicer. the water is cleaner. the food is tastier. everthing is just better in hawaii.

the flight is longer......more chances for a mile high club initiation.....:lol2::bunnies:

Chris - been to Bahamas many times, and I really like it a lot - Atlantis is great, the snorkling is good, even the diving is okay. The people are really nice, but the food is so-so (IMHO) except at the restorts, where the food is awesome. There is not much to see after a few days other than beach, but there is great duty-free type shopping.

I'm off to Hawaii in a month, and I know there is so much more to see, as everyone has said. When I get back, I'll tell you how they measure up in my opinion, but I'd say that if you have the time and money (because I DO think that Hawaii WILL be more expensive in the end), Hawaii will be a "better" trip in terms of more to see, more to do. But if you're just looking to relax on a budget, then you won't be disappointed with the Bahamas. The beach off Paradise Island is a reef you can just walk into!

oh - Hawaii has LOTS more fish than Bahamas, i understand, but not the same coral diversity as Bahamas. Tons of Porites in Hawaii.....

It will be a very different dive experience, I think.

Hawaii all the way

they are both awesome places to go, especially if you are into fish. but if money is not a factor Hawaii is the way to go. Bahamas only has atlantis really while Hawaii gives you so many options between the many islands. each island is like its own country with a completely different feel. to me Hawaii could be a once in a lifetime trip where as the Bahamas is more accessible. i spent my honeymoon in Hawaii-three weeks in three islands. there is not one day that goes by that i don't think about some part of that trip. plus, as soon as you land you get leid.
