Turtle tank Help

Just wondering if regular old bricks would be ok to use in a turtle tank as a way to support a shelf for them to bask on? Or would the bricks need to be cured and such

My turtles make ALL floating islands sink and they're too heavy for this eggcrate...they make it fall apart

is it just turtles? if so then can use those but wash off with clean water for a while

They're red ear sliders. It's 2 of them, they just keep getting bigger and bigger. I wanna make the island higher as well so I can add more water to the tank.

bricks are fine.... or just find some large stones if you need.

you'll be ok with bricks, if your tank is big enough, put a few bricks as a border then you fell with rubble on oneside of the bricks and water on the other side, that way the sliders can bask on land. if done right it looks good, i've done it before.

Make sure the bricks are properly supported. Turtles are notorious for knocking them over and can often get trapped under one and drown.

As a side note also make sure your filter intake is not too strong or at least covered. Mine is an open ended tube and somehow one of my turtles got his front foot sucked up and was stuck under water for I dont know how long. I did turtle heimlich and hoped for the best. He made a full recovery.

Wouldn't it be easier to use PVC then you could make a little scaffold type structure and support the shelf better.
