you'll be ok with bricks, if your tank is big enough, put a few bricks as a border then you fell with rubble on oneside of the bricks and water on the other side, that way the sliders can bask on land. if done right it looks good, i've done it before.

Make sure the bricks are properly supported. Turtles are notorious for knocking them over and can often get trapped under one and drown.

As a side note also make sure your filter intake is not too strong or at least covered. Mine is an open ended tube and somehow one of my turtles got his front foot sucked up and was stuck under water for I dont know how long. I did turtle heimlich and hoped for the best. He made a full recovery.
