So I went downstairs to take my dog out and I noticed there was a street fair on my block. So I walked towards it and right on the corner is Senator Chuck Schumer. It's funny because I just got done watching him on Meet the Press.

...maybe it's his political affiliation? lol. Always nice to meet someone 'famous', especially when he's standing on your corner.
I'm liking that Dunkin Donuts across the street ;)

All politicians are slime no matter what party they belong to. Legalized organized criminals. Some more corrupt than others.

So true, they have created almost every problem that we have and act innocent of all of it. They sell their votes to special intrests and corporations, democrats and republicans. Unfortunately, it seems like until people pull the heads out of their A**es and demand more of the people we elect, it will remain the same.

Well, yes there are politicians who are corrupt and even criminal regardless of party affiliation. As there are with every profession. Granted when criminal acts and/ or when corruption is uncovered, far more attention is paid, then to the upstanding politicos. As that's how it should be.

Chief, I don't at all blame you for feeling this way. However, I think it's counter productive. It is this type of sentiment that helps these dishonest representatives be put into and kept in power. Now, I'm not saying that you Chief, are not paying attention. It's just that those types of generalities encourage people to turn off politically. As difficult as it may be to do, we can't assume that "all" are criminal and corrupt. The more turned off we are and the less attention we pay to the political discourse, the more these types of hacks flourish. We as a society need observe the process more closely. In doing so we can run some these bums out before situations get to the point of becoming hilarious scandals.

So of course when corruption, criminal acts, and unfair legislation (Legalized organized criminals) happen, we need to bring them to light of day. At the same time though, we should recognize those who despite the intense spotlight still manage to do the right thing and make their arguments in good faith.

Sorry, if I went off the deep end a little. I just regret having not started to pay closer attention earlier on.

Alas I have not turned off, I am very vocal about it, I believe that gov't is broken and needs to be rebuilt. The Declaration of Independence says it is the responsibility of the people to do this if the gov't becomes in need of it. I firmly believe it.

Agreed. I believe the first step is reforming the way campaigns are financed.

Politicians are Sooooo Corrupt!!!

I must admit I feel so un-important and weak politically, because these clowns seem to get away with everything and are always above the law and reproach. Perfect example: Pedro Espada Jr. a corrupt, filthy piece of s**t!!!! How can this crap pass for a politician looking out for us NYers, and the people love him. I'm sorry for venting but I feel very strongly about this rampant corruption that goes on in politics.

Do not even start on the state senate. They are a joke. I agree with Chief, we need a complete overhaul of government. The media should also be held to higher standards. I feel in the past the media was more responsible about what it reported, but it seems year to year it is getting worse, more sensationalized. We never see what moderates think about any issues, either it is bashing ultra conseervatives on msnbc or bashing ultra liberals on fox news. These people do not represent what most americans feel yet they are constantly covered by the media because they are more exciting than your average rational american. This is why so many of us in the middle feel so cheated by the government, no representation.
