Stray Pitbull Needs Home

I was at my local dog park this morning and saw a stray pit wandering around.
She seems friendly. She was not aggressive towards my dogs. She came over to me and laid on her back for her stomach to be rubbed. I locked her in the small dog section of park and gave her food+water.

If anyone is interested in this dog please email me. If anyone know of no kill shelters that might accept her, please post here.

North Shore will not accept her. She needs to be spayed. If you like I can get you a free spay for her in NYC and then you can try to get her a home. She will be likely euthanized in a shelter. Animal Care and Control in Staten island, brooklyn and manhattan are full of pits and a large number get euthanized every day, regardless of behavior.

I volunteer @ NYC ACC-DO NOT bring her there. She will be euthanized. Find a vet that can check if she is microchipped, at least that way you can find out if she was abandoned are just got lost. From the looks of it, she was used to breed and then abandoned. She looks like she is still nursing and wouldn't leave her litter. I wish I had a nickel for every pit that I saw come through the door- most people say it's a stray that they found, even though the dog is friendly to them and aggressive towards strangers. And we all know why that is.

On a related note- I have some foster kittens ready for adoption- I rescued them from ACC, and they will go on Craigslist soon (IMHO, THE best way to get cats adopted) but I think I will start showing them here too. PM me if interested

This actually ended well. I forwarded that photo + story to the "dog committee" of the park. The word was spread around and someone who already had a pit took this dog home with him. Some people knew this person well and said he takes good care of his dog. Thanks for the help offers.

Just make sure they gave the dog a good home and it worked out. I have seen things like that end real bad with someone taking a pit for the wrong reasons. I hope for the best and really hope the new home works out. Good job for helping that doggie out!

It's kind of hard to take in a stray Awilida, especially when you already have a dog or two. I wouldn't take it personal.
There certainly isn't a shortage of pits needing homes I'm more angry at the little s**theads that take pitbull breeding from a lucrative perspective. These "breeders" have no respect for the lives of these dogs. It's not only pitbulls obviously. I would never buy ANY dog from a breeder or shop source puppy mill dogs. We all know what happens to the puppies that never get sold.

I have a feeling that as soon as I own a house I will end up adopting at least another pitbull. I have been yelled at many a time already for trying to get another but my apartment is just barely big enough right now.

Rich, what I am angry about is the fact that Eric didn't bother to take the time to respond to my PM. I bet you that if I pm'ed him to offer him $ he would have responded right away..
I know it's hard to take in another dog when you already have another.lol That is why I couldn't take her. I have 3 pities right now. Plus my 3 cats....lol
As to the breeders especially the pit bull breeders you are not alone on this one. Honestly what p____ me off even more is the people that buy them even when they see that they are dealing with a true j/a.
One of my sons' ex went and bought a pit puppy from some guy in LI that sold the puppies before they were even 4 weeks old. And she bought one of those.... Now she is 4 months old, and very aggressive. Gee, I wonder why...............................:irked:
