Is it just or me what? I just got my bill this month. Oh MY GOD!!! :Yikes: I couldn't beleive it. It was double from my previous month.. I was thinking :scratch: why is it so high? I didn't have a christmas tree up.. Everything is the same.. Actually it should be less, cuz I was hardly home at nite time...

Yeah ... that's "Con" Edison for you ... Same thing happened to me ... one month was about $85 ... the next 185 ... I didn't do anything differently ... what can you do?

It could be worse though ... you could have LIPA. (Long Islanders know what I am talking about ) :givebeer:

my gas bill for this month came out to $191.76 I keep the heat at 71 and i dont cook I'm about to call them!

Every month my con ed bill is at about $130, don't know why.. Lighting is on only 8 hours or less for a 30 gallon tank. and I am usually home after 12am. So the only light is on is my tank. that's about it.. And this month, is almost $275. You tell me.. didnt do anything different than last month or the month before that...

here in nj pseg is getting crazy also.gas and electric keeps going up and i been cutting back shutting things down so y is it still going up?????? rip offs!! if had money i would build a green powered house.1 day hopefully....

I think you may be right...here in Westchester, I have NYSEG, one month is estimated, next is actual...have to add and divide 2 months billing to get real average cost.

You can always go and read the meter yourself and see if its correct, I've had mine mis-read or wrong numbers entered in the past; nothing like a 300 gas bill in July when its normally 20.

Could also be your heaters being used a lot more than normal, this winters been pretty cold so depending on the house temps that may be the culprit.

Same happened to me! Question for everyone... Can a pump leaking stray voltage make your electric bill high??? i had a pump leaking 80 volts into my tank Btw not a good feeling

Is based on actual reading.. Can I ask them to read it again.. That's IMPOSSIBLE to cost that much...

You could invest in a Kil-a-watt unit and see how much power you're using for your tank.
Then you can calculate the rest of your house with the difference

No the stray voltage on your pumps will not cause you bill to spike.

If you receive an estimated bill it can high based on average use.

Check out your taxes on the bill and the average KW charge- Distribution of power is a mandate from the Public Service commission and does not fluctuate from month to month, only the cost of the fuel fluctuates.

Distribution probably only accounts for about 20% of your bill- the rest is taxes and fuel cost. Most electric companies are distributors and not power generation since Deregulation.

If you notices on the con ed bill.. What's the difference between the delivery charge and serivce charge.. It seem we get charge for both... I think that's a RIP off!!!
