my son is a good ballplayer.he tried out for the JHS baseball team and he put his primary position as catcher and 2nd position SS.the coach wouldnt let him use another kids catching gear and im laid off and couldnt go spend 250 on his own gear.he outgrew his old catching equip.so the coach just had him try for ss and there was 3 outstanding players trying out for SS.he plays a decent SS but he is great at catching.thats what he always practices to do.so he didnt make the team, the coach said he was a great batter but there were 2 SS that beat him out.he explained before that i was out of work and he couldnt get new gear but if he was to make it i would go get him new gear.so the coach didnt let him even attemt to try out for catcher.do u think i have the right to complain to the school for not letting him try for catcher or should i just leave it alone..oh yeah i coached my kid in regular ball and he had a kid on the team that was not even close to my sons ability that made the team because the coach is friends with the kids family.just sucks because baseball is the only sport my son loves and he was sure he was making the team.he honestly and not just saying this cause he is my kid was the best batter there.he was crushing the ball to deep left and center field

there was no letter sent to us about bringing own catchers gear.in the town league a child has to wear the equip that is supplied for a catcher except the headgear but it had to be a specific type or it could not be used.i didnt know that either so i went and bought a whole catcher equip only to sit in the garage for 5 years.i didnt find out till the first practice which was on a wed.they did 3 more practices on fri,sat and mon which gave me no time to scrounge up anything.

wont do anything but label your kid for next year. if his batting was better then everyone else's at tryout's reguardless of position he tried out for they would have made a spot, why i wont coach no more, i play to win and coached the same way and with kids it is suppose to be about fun, fun to me is winning

That sucks I know EXACTLY how he feels. When I was maybe 10 or 12 somewhere around there I wanted to play roller hockey so bad so my mom signed me up I went and tried out, made the team but my dad was too much of a cheap A hole to buy me the gear since it was like 500-600 bux so I got screwed and couldn't play. Not the same sitch but def similar with the same result. I would definitely complain who gives a fk about being "one of those parents". It's not about what other parents or faculty think it's about MAKING YOUR KID HAPPY and if he worked his ass off for the opportunity then he deserves to have it. I'll be "one of those parents" any day. Go Get'em Duke!

he is going to play for the town like he always does.will make the all star team like he always does.since he was 6 years old he made both allstar teams.1 for just the town 1 for just north and south towns.some kids that made the team never made the allstar team.how is it that all his team mates knows how good of a catcher/player he is but the school team does not.thats how they pick allstars the team he is on picks 2 kids to go to the allstar game and every year from 6 to 12 he was picked.

As a parent of HS baseball player I say speak up in a kind and gentle way maybe ask the coach what he did'nt like in your kids performance so you and the kid could work on it before next year and if he has the balls say a damn thing then work on whatever the problem is. If he says he seen nothing wrong then ask why he did'nt make it in a joking kinda you wanna kick his ass way. and alot of politics in this day and age if you can speak to the coach and get 5 minutes with him and he wont take another look at the kid tell the coach if he needs a good catcher or a fill in to call you and drop him your #

Get him a lacrosse stick, baseball is ridiculously political and in the long run a waste of time. If he is a good athlete he will standout in lacrosse and the northeast is the nations hotbed for college lacrosse players and second string players go to college to play. I would compain but the Coach sounds like a D*&^ anyway, so it may do no good. If you are going to speak to anyone speak to the athletic director first and find out the eqiupment policies. They buy pads for an entire football team and they cannot have a set of catchers pads, just dumb. 10 to 1 the coach knows the catcher and he never stood a chance. Otherwise he would have told the other kid to let him borrow his equipment for a few pitches to see what hes got, any good coach would do that. Dont blame yourself.

ha.i called the assistant principle and explained everything about the catcher gear.he said its ridiculous he still couldnt try out for catcher especially the fact i am laid off.then i spoke with the 8th grade coach who is in charge of all baseball in each grade.he told me it wasnt the ss it was because he was a wek batter...huh very odd because he was the best hitter on every team he palyed for and last year was able to hit the fences.so i said i find it very hard to believe his hitting was weak.so afetr the phone call i decided to give 3 kids a call that made the team and asked them how his hitting was.they all said that he was hitting every ball.1 kid said he was making tje outfeilders run everywhere.then i asked my kid not to lie to me and tell me how he batted he told me he missed 1 ball because it waqs inside and wanted to hit it down the line but missed.i think they know they messed up and now trying to make excuses.i believe him i coached him for 5 years and know his ability at the plate.
