Really.

I just rented a movie on demand, they charged me $4.99. It didn't work at all, terrible audio/video, etc. I called and did troubleshooting with them for 25 minutes.

At the end they say they need to send a tech to my home.

7A-7P??????

I said no thanks, just give me the credit on my movie. They said they can't and I have to call back in 24 hours as the movie is not yet recorded in their accounting system. I explained that I do not want to call and wait on hold for 15 minutes just to get $5 in credit back.

Finally I spoke to a supervisor who said there is nothing he could do. I told him as a manager, he could write it down on a little post it note to credit my account tomorrow and keep me out of it. I guess I was speaking greek because he didn't sound very enthusiastic about the whole "you need to write something down" concept, but he eventually agreed.

So I guess I have to wait for the bill to come to call and complain about the credit that will undoubtedly still be on my account.

:duh:

this is corporate bureaucracy at its finest. they make the hoops you have to go through the deterrent. only thing worse is at a state or federal level... thinking about the dmv just makes me want to kill someone.

Honestly Time warner is the F'ing worst man. I had nothing but problems with them in 2 separate locations. If you can get it go FIOS! The only good thing about TWC is that if you call and complain you can always get money off the bill. I got 6 months of free cable then told them to kick rocks and got FIOS LOL.

Fios is weird they definitely try to play games but you can't let them screw you. When I moved to Bayside about 8 months ago I called them up to find out what the deal was the guy told me they were running a special in my area and that I could get all the movie channels with on demand for free for 12 months. He said it was $89.99 for the triple play thing and my bill with taxes would be liek $103 so I'm like ok cool and signed up, no contract, no termination fee. I get my bill and it was way higher and I had everything BUT HBO which of course is the channel I watch the most so I called them up and flip on them. They apologize fix the mistake change the bill everythign is good. Next month the bill is also much higher I call up explain the situation they credit me end of story. Same thing has been happening every month I have to keep calling up to get them to fix the bill. All in all though I pay what I was supposed to pay or pretty close to it but not more than $105. To me that's a great deal. With time warner if you want all the movie channels it's like an extra 50 with the taxes. I am pretty happy with the service other than the billing issue. I have sooo many on demand channels and channels in general. TW doesn't even come close to the amount of on demands that FIOS has. I'm not even talking about the premiums I'm talking about all different random networks and they are included free. It's definitely worth looking in to. IF anyone wants to switch I believe they do a referral thing something like if a customer brings a new customer you both get a credit on your bill also so let's save money haha

Just on another note, we picked up Google TV last weekend, and we have been watching movies off of a site that streams movies for free. I found it for streaming to my cell phone, but the google TV streams it just fine. Even the bootleg versions are pretty decent quality. Not sure if I can post the link, but if you want to know, PM me or even better, Coral-Line me!

I don't think Google TV is a replacement for cable or FiOs right now since you can't stream anything from any Viacom owned sources, but between netflix and the site I use, I can get plenty of movies streamed to the TV.

BTW, Josh, if you get a chance let me know when the Refractometer goes out so I can keep an eye out for it. Thanks

Im dyin to switch to FIOS but they dont have it out here in east bumblef**k yet!!!! I have Optimum which is ok but they charge way too much for movie channels and on demand stuff, and their customer service sux!!

When they do become available, you can get a pretty good deal by playing cable against FiOs. We are paying like $40 less than cable for more on FiOs.

Here's a quick breakdown of what we did.

Called cable retentions and said we were thinking of switching to FiOs, and they gave us some $ off

Then we called FiOs and set up an installation apointment. While doing that we asked for the best deal to break us away form cable. (If they don't give you a break on price, try to get some additions like a DVR or not having to pay for extra set top boxes)

We called cable to tell them that FiOs Made a better deal, but they said we couldn't cancel at that time because we had to call on the day of FiOs install.

Then on the day of install, we called FiOs and told them that Cable gave us a credit for the account (a little white lie), and we would be cancelling the install. (we didn't tell them how much but we said it was substantial). They offered a $30 customer credit which we took.

It takes some time on the phone and on hold, but the good thing is that the wait times for retentions and for new install didn't seem too long. I mean they want either keep customers or get new ones, so those calls take priority.
