A bug eating bug...

This bugger was 5" long, thick and mean looking. It wasn't happy about its sunning being disturbed.

Oh, man, that is a great pic, Wade! Hey, I just recentl;y saw the "Bugs" IMAX movie in Milwaukee. A praying mantis was one of the main "characters." Very cool!

I love Praying Mantis! They hang out on my windows at night in the summer. It's a bug buffet and the Gecko's and the Mantis gorge themselves!

Some kind of colorful beetle (order Coleoptera) from VA. I think this is the red milkweed beetle, Tetraopes tetraophthalmus.

Excellent, moe! I really wanted to get some dragon shots over the summer, but everytime I saw one, I never had my camera. Love the closeups!

And that beetle- it sure looks like a milkweed leaf. I have the same milkweed in an earlier picture with the monarch pupa.

i wish i had my cam before. I used to have a chameleon and also grasshoopers and preying mantis. Some of the preying mantis were even pink. But now they are in the chameleon's stomack
