Just wondering if anyone can make suggestions on what sps can I sucessfully keep under PC lighting. I have 195w in a 29g tank and wanted to get a good sized sps coral to go on the top center rock shown below. (Yes I ask a simliar question last month on keeping a crocea under PC and its still doing great after its first month)

Thanks in advance

I have a ton of SPS in my tank and I only run PCs ......for now. Some were wild but started as tiny frags that have grown to decent sized colonies several inches in diameter in the span of a year. Most are aquacultured though and they seem to be the strongest. The aquacultured frags maintain better color and had survived a bad RTN/STN episode that left a bunch of my corals scarred. Also, as a little tip I have found that the dual spectrum bulbs made by Current give the best light and help the corals color up if ur using PCs. The only prob is that the actinics tend to lose color over 4 to 6 months which isn't unusual but still a pain. Another item that I have found to help out with SPS under PCs is the Marc Weiss line of products I use the Amino Vital and Blackpowder. Some of you may say that stuff doesn't do anything but I dare you to use the whole bottle as directed and tell me you don't see a very clear change in your tanks health. I'm also picking up some Miracle Mud today I'm gonna mess around with it and see how it works.

You really aren't limited to just montipora (though they are nice. I have green ,purple, orange polyp with a green base, and a purple cap in my tank). They are the safest but I have mostly acro colonies in my PC tank. If you want acros try and find some ORA frags or frags from colonies that are well established in captivity at first. I started with mostly aquacultured stuff and have added a few frags from wild colonies I have seen. Most of the wilds have made it but a few died quick and some took a few weeks before they gave up. I also have a 4" derasa on the sand. I had 2 3" croceas that had awesome patterns and 2 1" gold maximas all on the sand but something happened in the tank and the clams that had been there for over 6 months all 4 of those died in the same day. Just keep up on your maintenance and you'll be fine with the SPS.

Theres a pic of his tank

A few questions though, how many watts of PC are on there?
Also, with PC's, you obviously have to place them only within a few inches from the top, which doesn't leave much room to grow.
As for the acro's, do you have any before and after pics of how much they grew? I find it very hard to believe acros can grow much/fast, just maintaining their color is hard under PC's.
