Get a Phosban Reactor, on sale for $33.99. and a Mini-Jet 606 for $13.99. You can adjust the flow on the Min-Jet, as you an also do on the reactor.

great another piece of equipment. wife's gonna extract more pain.

so i tried checking this thing out on a couple of other sites to understand how and where it works. i'm guessing its not something that goes in the sump (like the skimmer) but nearby.

so i attach a pump to the intake line, thro the pump in the sump, and throw the return line back into the sump?

since i've got a huge piece of foam acting as mechanical filter in the middle of my sump between where the water comes in and where the skimmer and return pump are...maybe i should put the intake line on the dirty side and the outflow line on the return pump side...if you follow my drift.

sound rite....

many thanks marrone

Definitely get the reactor. Tell the wife it's only $35 (this time you don't have to lie:shhh:)
It will not receive enough flow by having it in a media bag & placing it in your sump.

Not enough flow will cause it to "clump up" making it less efficient.

Too much flow will make the media disintegrate into powder.

you want to push about 80-90 GPH through the reactor. It comes with an adjustable ball valve so that you can fine tune the flow to get it right. It' uses 1/2" ID tubing so you'll need to pick some up if you don't have any. 100% worth it in the reactor. You can power it with a Maxi-jet 400 or any other power head you may have around thet will work with 1/2" ID tubing. Just use the valve to make sure you don't push too much water through it.

Read the directions on the phosban. Do not let the phosban tumble in the reactor or it will break down and possibly harm any soft corals you have.....
