I simply wouldn't use them..I was a cook for ten years and a capenter for ten now to. IME would be more likely to use sheetrock mud buckets than pickle buckets. I didnt use either. think that spending 15 bucks on some buckets is worth a piece of mind that I might possibly kill my investment and joy.

Pickle buckets should be fine to use after a quick rinse with water.

Let me guess Guy... The vinegar will dilute? I thought that as well but still would worry about the seasonings and other preservatives
that large manufacturers would be using.

Vinegar is harmless or even beneficial so that can't be a problem. Any seasonings should rinse out easily and they use vinegar as the preservative as far as I know. New buckets have just as much risk because the plastic needs to be washed well - I recommend vinegar for that task ;) LOL

How about buying salt buckets and reuse the buckets for water? I got about 8 buckets now.

I'd give you some if you were local.

lol...true. I would be more worried about other additives they use as preservatives. Depending on the brand, some are more natural, some use chemicals. I guess neither would be too horrible if the buckets were well rinsed out.

Still, I like to get a fesh bucket and clean that one out. Something abotu a "new bucket smell" like a new car that gets me.

Ahhh...simple pleasures.

I have used an In-n Out pickle bucket for years with no problems. I personally am more worried about new plastic buckets. I would think there could be a plethora of chemicals on those from the manufacturers and stores they have been in. I'd rather let the pickle juice absorb all those nice chemicals so my fish don't have to :) .

I do not think a pickle bucket would be a big deal. Salt bucktets would be good also.

I figure if the pickles are consumable, then with a good rinse, they'd work fine. The buckets at my local Agent Orange are sitting over by the cement,(lots of cement dust) no thanks.
