Hello everyone!

I'm a reef newbie with 8 month old 200 gallon tank. I currently have couple frogspan and hammers. One of my friends is shutting down the tank and offering all his corals (huge 50 head ball of frogs, two huge 12 inch Monti, couple huge SPS that I don't know the name and 10+ RBTA. I'm planning to add a calcium reactor to maintain the calcium, magnesium and alkalinity but don't know where to start. my budget is $500 for for the whole setup.

TIA

a budgeted setup for a proper calcium reactor is, give or take $1000 unless you can find everything you need second-hand.

ill give you a list of what you need

CO2 tank - $100 - $200
CO2 Regulator
$150 low end $300 High end
Kamoer STP doser $300 (high end)
Calcium reactor for 200 gallon $400

and last but not least a way to control PH
low end ph controller $200
high end ph controller Apex EL $500.

hope this helps

its expensive to get started but much easier to maintain in the long run

Thanks for the detailed info. I found a used Korallin reactor for around 400 with pump and regulator. I currently have Hydros so need to get the co2 tank.
