Sorry I haven't gotten pics up I've been really busy both in the store and out. I'll try tonight. The black beach sand isn't dyed, it's black aragonite. Also, there are areas of the world where there is black sand due to volcanic activity and the fish do fine there. It's not like it's fuschia or something.

I was at Aquatic Obsession (NJ) and on the self were 20Lb and 10Lb bags of the Black beach sand. I Took a bag and held it under the MH lighting and I was pleased with the look. It appeared to be a Black with a hint of brown. So I brought the bag to the counter and bought it, I think it's what I'm looking for as far as substrate in my 30 cube. I'll post pics when I get the tank up and running. By the way the sand comes in water so the color is a good representation of what it will look like in the tank (wet).

I Know about the aiptasia and algae problem. The tank gets blasted with sunrise and sunset light daily. It's a constant battle and the tank gets a 10 gallon water change atleast once a week. Go figure, but all the corals are doing great and growing fast. The sand is more of a slate grey color under these CFs and I don't think it will look much different under halides depending on the spectrum. I thought it would be more black but I like it better this way I think it looks more natural.

Ya that tank needs an exorcism the parameters are all good and where I want them but the algae just won't die and the aiptasia must be feeding on other aiptasia since I basically now target feed the fish a few mysis a day. But the corals look great.
