my room stays at 68-70 with my AC and I dont have a problem with my tank (PC lighting). Even when I turn the AC off and it goes up to 74ish, I'm ok

i got my AC on full blast, and am having trouble keeping temp in low 80's. I usually keep it between 78-80, but last two days its going up to 85, Im freaking out.

Im running MH lights 2 on 2 off for a total of 6 hrs. and running AC in room 24/7, but still struggling, looking for a chiller

What helps me is that one of my central AC vents is right over my tank. I was having bad heat issues even before the heat wave but since I got rid of my versa tops and went topless the tank stays nice and cool. What a difference going topless makes

If the temp is getting to hot, even with the A/C running full blast, I would keep the MH lights off until the hot spell breaks. Either run you other lights, VHO, PC or T-5, or leave the tank dark for a couple of days. The tank will be fine without light for a couple of days.

I have a small window unit right by my tank too small for the room size, but good enough to keep my reef happy. Keep it on energy saver 77-78. I also have a chiller as a backup and to lower my temp swings. My tank has stayed 78-80 during our heat wave.

keeping in mind, it's not just the heat - the relative humidity has more to do with it than the actual temperature.

2 weeks ago we had an 83 degree day with high humidity and my tank hit 84

we are now at 97 and high humidity and I am rock solid with tank temp at 85 and animals no worse for the wear - a degree difference in tank temp but oooddles more (14 degrees) in actual outside temp.

on days like these I run a stand alone 10k btu ac set at 74 in the basement - the system closest to the AC solid at 78 other is at 82 today - we'll see when i get home.

Chillers might sound like a great idea but you need to know if it is worth it for your application. In a small room you might end up just burning electricity and heating up your tank.

My concern with getting a chiller.

The last chiller I owned I had to place in a seperate room, that we rarely used, becuase it would make it so hot.
I run a 3 AC's now and they cool my entire Apartment to 70. My tank stays at 76 with the MH on.

Does anyone know the limit of how high the tank temp can go without having negative effects? I've topped out at 82. Today I have been able to keep the tank at 80 but I had to keep freezing 1 qt containers and attaching to the side of my tank.

I keep my house at 72 and my tank at 79 this requires to run my AC 26000btu 18 hours of the day along with my 1/4 hp Chiller which runs at least 16 hours.But that keeps my reef happy and my family so its worth it.

Have my ac on full blast. However the temp of the tank did go up to 83. A fan brought it down back to 79.
I put fan right on the sump.

Quick question. I haven't done it but it's been an Idea in my head ever since the heatwave. What would happen if you made saltwater ice cubes and put it in the sump. ONLY if the tank went up to drastic levels?
