get the mesh made for ponds (made to keep leaves out etc). I used it in a "make your own screen" kit (got from Home Depot). It works great.

If you are going to run a sump, you don't have to worry about gas exchange via your main tank. It will happen in your sump.

^ While gas exchange does happen in your sump it may not be enough for your tank which is usually much bigger, also you want as much gas exchange as possible, even if your sump can "handle" your system on it's own.

I use plexiglass, it warps as i anticipated so it doesn't restrict gas exchange but it doesn't warp enough to allow my very very jumpy fish out.Ive lost three last month just to jumping and I have had my current two wrasses for a month and have seen them try to jump a combined three times, and I don't observe my tank too often unfortunately.

Use the diy pond netting cover. It works great. I made mine with screen frame. Also, not sure what they use as the plastic frame, but I have some acrylic that really warps because it is hydroscopic.

I do have a new version of the cover that is completely soft and does not use the acrylic edging. Due to the varying widths of folks tanks, some of the acrylic would warp slightly on the wider tanks and I was not happy about that. The newly designed cover doesn't have this issue and it can also be made to accommodate bowfront tanks.
And I can mail them :)

KathyC are you giving out your secrets of your new design. I see no new posts on that thread. I would like to upgrade my mess of a screen frame.

Are you saying you'd ship them custom made or just the material? LMK and how much do you charge to have them custom made? I have a 90 gallon, 48 long.

There will be one soon :) Patented! :spin:
Fink..they are custom made for each tank..easier if the tank is very standard. I usually ask for pics.
Thanks Josh & John (this weekend!)
