What is a good skimmer thats not too expensive for my 90 gallon. I have been using a hand me down thats not really doing the job, but has been holding me over. I have been buying things 1 at a time and the next thing on my list is a new skimmer. Your input would be appreciated or if someone is down sizing to a nano and has a decent 1 used let me know thanks in advance.

Can I ask a couple of questions. How much room do you have for the skimmer ? How much do you want to spend (price range if any) ? And do you have preference...needle wheel, cones, venturi, downdraft, beckett...?

You'll most likely end up going with a venturi style skimmer since you will get the most efficiency, least noise, and largest variety. There are many decent ones out there (used would get you a better skimmer for the $). Take a look at the amount of air produced. It will be listed as LPM or LPH. Take into consideration build quality, durability, maintenance, and of course price. If buying new, resale value is a major factor. Then all you have to do is compare the amount of air produced.

As for the EV180, I think they are dutie :) I know many guys like them but I just can't figure out why. So many better skimmers out there

The I-tech 100 should be used on tanks less than 60g. There is a picture of an I-tech 100 next to a 200 and the 100 is really tiny. If you were to consider and I-tech, go for the 200.

If you consider the 200, however, the price puts it within firing range of more elite cone skimmers.

I have the itech 200 and it is no where near the price of the other cones, it is 400 dollars less. If you read the itech forum on rc you will see there are a few people running the 100 on tanks his size with great results. It depends on your bioload.

An ATB 840 is $650 somewhere on the internet and I don't want to post any links advertising the site.

For $550, I purchased this on RC that was only 3 weeks old.
