  1. EuroReef CS8-2 Skimmer

I must say....I just got my Euroreef last week and I will never have a tank without one ever again. Nor will I recommend anything else. These things outperform any skimmer I've ever seen. Well, except for those 10 foot tall homemade jobbies :>
  2. Best Salt?

I like Reef Crystals. It is made by the same company as Instant Ocean but with a more "reefy" formula.
  3. Euroreef problem

I lowered the water level to 7 inches. They said in the 6-8 range. It started calming down. I think I was just overreacting to the break in period. thanks
  4. Euroreef problem

My Euroreef just came in today and I just finished hooking it up. I am having a problem with the collection cup filling up with water very quickly. The riser tube is all the way down. Is this part of the break in? The air tube has no restriction on it. Should I get something to put in there?
  5. Help me set up a 55-g tank

BTW, what part of NJ are you from. I can probably recommend some good LFS in the area and knowledgable people to talk to.
  6. Help me set up a 55-g tank

If you're looking at a retrofit Hamilton unit, I would go with 2x110 watt VHO rather than 4x55 PC. Unless of course, you want to go MH.
  7. trouble with Mag7

Well, I kinda McGyvered it a little bit. I cut three small slits in the return tube right after the Mag. Thanks for the help.
  8. trouble with Mag7

I've had my system up for over a year and finally decided to add a sump. Here lies my problem. I installed an Amiracle overflow to my sump and a Mag 7 return pump. The overflow won't keep up with the return pump. The return is about 3 feet back to the tank. What can I do to make this work...
  9. Funniest things you've heard in the LFS

Some guy just bought a 40 gallon setup. The guy then asks about which fish would be good to start out with after his tank cycles. The LFS salesman replies, "How about a school of polka dots (pointing at small panther groupers)? They're great fish for beginners". This was the first and last...
  10. Got my detritivore kit today

If you're ever in the area, check out Fishtales or Rt 88 Pet World in Brick. They are both very good. You could also check out Tropiquarium in Long Branch. They have the largest fish room on the east coast. I wouldn't recommend buying fish from them as they always seem to have unhealthy...
  11. Got my detritivore kit today

What part of NJ are you from? I can recommend several good stores which are both very helpful and reasonably priced. I live in Toms River.
  12. Take a look at this fat lawnmower blenny!

No trick at all. Just have a hair algae infested tank
  13. Take a look at this fat lawnmower blenny!

hahahah my lawnmower blenny looks very similar. I have a ton of hair algae him and my chevron tang have been working on.
  14. Wow, check this out....

Like I said, I didn't mean to come off like a jerk, nor do wish to make enemies. It's just something that gets under my skin. And I'd agree with you about some of my employees not doing their job correctly sometimes. If this wasn't the case, I wouldn't have a job. The same thing goes for the...
  15. Wow, check this out....

Its not a matter of being mad about where you work. Pretend you're a Walmart employee. Someone makes a comment implying that Walmart employees are clueless morons. How would that make you feel? And in my case, no, it's not a matter of me not wanting to work there. For those of you who live...
  16. Wow, check this out....

I happen to be a McDonalds employee. I'm a district manager in charge of six stores. I understand that point of you making a generalized statement, but maybe you should get your facts straight before you start getting specific.
  17. Fish is Dead......need help finding out why.

<<The test kits that I used were Aquarium Systems...the one where you fill up the little container, add the chemicals, shake, wait, and compare to the color guides provided. >> I believe the test kits he's talking about are Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. They aren't the best on the market.
  18. Stocking ideas

    Hey stranger
  19. Stocking ideas

I would stay away from the Ribbon eel. They have a dismal survival rate in captivity.
  20. CPR bakpak 2 question, maybe a problem.

I'd also agree with removing the sponge. I've had a pretty decent flood due to the sponge getting clogged. After that, I had to clean it out biweekly. After removing it, no problems at all.
