So a little background about my experiences. I have been in the saltwater hobby for about 6 years now. I had a 45 Gal reef a couple of years ago and due to some events I needed to break it down. About a month ago I got the itch again and realized I missed the hobby. I had an Oceanic 8 Gallon Nano laying around so I decided it would be a great way for me to get back into the hobby. I do water changes every other week (about 2 gallons) and replace filter pads weekly.

Lighting:
Orphek Par38 12x2w 14k bulb

Flow:
Oceanic 250gph powerhead

Rock:
about 10 lbs

Livestock:
1 blue Chromis
2 hermit crabs
2 Sand snails
2 Astrea Snails

Coral:
Red Magician Zoa
Devils Armor Zoa
Captain America
Frogspawn(2heads)
Acan(about 3 heads)
Lord of Rings
Atomic Greens
Purple Deaths

These pictures were taken on 6/23, about a month after I started the tank. I hope you guys enjoy this thread as much and I enjoy having the tank. Comments, questions and suggestions are always welcomed!!! Without this website and the advice I have received over the years I would not be able to have this piece of the ocean in my room.

Way better than the PC's I'm guessing? I should have my 2 bulbs mounted tomorrow. I found these inline dimmers at Ikea for 7.99 so I got one for each light.

Way better than the PC's. Such better color to the tank and having the open top has cooled the tank and keeps the temp manageable. Im liking the 14 k too. Im gonna stick with it. Let me know how the dimmers work for ya.

Nice... Plan on removing the pc top completely? Looks a little off the way u have it on the first pic. Try moving the led fixture from the side and place it behind the tank so it hangs from behind and remove the pc lighting completely... It would look much better IMO.

But all together u have some great pieces and a nice set up. Congrats on getting back in the game.

Thanks, I have been planning on removing the top but Im just not sure how to do it. I dont want to break it because I want to keep it as a backup light in case something happens to the bulb. Once I figure out how to remove it without breaking it or damaging the tank then thats what Im gonna do.
