Sweet! Thanks for your help and advice, I really appreciate it. Would an eheim 600 be strong enough to power a bio pellet reactor and another to do carbon? I think they're like 180 gph, but not sure.

Both hooked up to the same pump? I don't think that's a good idea if that's what you mean. Carbon and Pellets need different amounts of flow. Pellets would need stronger flow to keep things tumbling and carbon only needs a slight slow tumble so the water can have more contact time.

I use a Maxijet 900 (dialed down) for carbon which I might take offline if these pellets keep doing their thing the way they are. And then I use a Maxijet 1200 for the pellets. You might be able to tee off the pump and add ball valves to each reactor intake but I've never tried that so I'm not sure how effective that would be.

Aye aye captain!

I have the 2 eheim 600 so I'll give it a try, if the media tumbles then awesome. If not then I need a new pump (not awesome)

For the pellets you want a consistent tumble but not too much that everything gets stuck up at the top. If the pellets form a mush and stick together shake the reactor and loosen them apart, if you pre-soak them about 24 hours in ro water you'll have less problems with them sticking together.

That is the run-down of the tank specs and equipment, plan is to get all the pieces together and then from there build the tank. I would rather have everything ready to go and do it once than adding stuff afterwards. Most likely setup we're looking after the new year, maybe February the latest I'd say realistically.

I have most of the stuff except:

I've had both next reef the mr1 and mr1 Xl and shorty. They do make very good reactors, I didnt like that the base plates were so huge and such thin acrylic.

1. Ladies and gentlemen!!! The tank is drilled thanks to anthony aka thirty5.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

This is what glassholes recommended when I e-mailed them. Can't say I like the idea so I'm open to suggestions

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

"This package contains the siphon break for the RS1500 overflow kit. Included are two
pre drilled elbows. The elbow used depends on the side of the overflow you wish to
have the return plumbing. A drill bit is included if you prefer to drill your existing drain
elbow. Drill a 3/8? hole in a location similar to the ones supplied.
Above is a sample of what the plumbing should look like at installation. Starting at the
left of the picture is the return. This elbow will connect to the line coming from the
discharge of the pump. Next is the left drain, which is connected to 1 1/2? plumbing and
drains into the sump. In the center is the return bulkhead and John Guest fitting to
supply the siphon break. Then we have the right return, which is the same as the left
return, with the addition of the siphon break line.

When installing this apparatus, be certain to insert the tubing firmly into the John Guest
fitting and the elbow. The line should have a gentle radius and not tend to kink. The tee
will need to be cemented to the return elbow, and the return plumbing cemented as well.
The drains will be installed as per the standard Glass-Holes overflow kit.
The plumbing can also be reversed if preferred, with the return on the right side.
Reef Savvy 1500 Overflow Plumbing"

in that set up how would you get a siphon break to the drain side on the left. the John Guest fitting is only on the right side drain. Did you get the black over flow box?? if so they have the teeth already cut out, so water will only drain as far as the teeth are, their is no siphon break on a drain line, from what I know. the siphon break should only be on the return line, and that is just made by drilling a hole just below water line in the 90 degree elbow. another question why would you want to feed good water back down the drain???

You wouldn't need a siphon break on the left. The point of it is the drain stops receiving water when power goes.out. no.water.in.pipe the returns.would suck air from the drain pipe thus.siphon. break.

I'd be.losing flow yes
