Ron's 58 Gallon Oceanic

Hello MR,

Just wanted to introduce my new tank. It is a 58 gallon Oceanic Reef Ready, footprint is 36" x 18"

I am upgrading from my 14 gallon BioCube

Some stuff I got so far:
Stand from a 65 gallon - Thanks to my awesome GF

Still needs a lot of stuff but I have made some good progress. I fit the standpipes yesterday and performed a leak test, after some motivated torquing, I'm in the money.

I'm still awaiting a PVC gate valve to attach to the drain, once I get that I'll fill up and test water circulation. I have all the rest of the plumbing. I am pretty proud of the return plumbing (I have included a ball valve for regulating flow and a check valve to prevent draining through the return line in the case of a power outage)

I'm excited about this tank and glad that I've take 2+ months just to invision, plan, and design this setup.

Congrats on the upgrade! Looks like a nice setup so far. What are your plans for the 14? If your interested in selling it let me know.

Hanging on to the BC14 until further notice. It's a nice tank with a 150 metal halide and a hang on fuge.

congrads on the new tank, but please be careful with the valve on the drain side.

I'll be careful but I thought it would be careless to not be able to secure the flow from the drain. Am I wrong?

Skip the check valve. It WILL, at some point fail. Usually when you need it to work. Much better idea to just allow for the back siphon into your sump in the event of a power failure.
