I went BB

In my pursuit to have a efficient setup to export nutrients from my sps reef crest tank a.s.a.p. (Remove organic compounds & prevent inorganic compounds)

I went bare bottom.

My setup:

I am currently running a 120 reef , sps dominant tank for about a year now.
I started out with live rock and 3 inch live sand bed.

I am currently dosing B-ionics w/BRS dosers for Ca & Alk.
I'm using Red Sea Pro salt and have yet needed to add Mag.
GFO BRS reactor.
Carbon BRS reactor.

Levels are:
Cal=420
Alk=9 DKH
Mag 1400

Temp 76.2-77.4
Ph 7.85-8.00

Flow:
2x Mp40,s
2x Mp10,s
1 6045 Tunzi
3 Maxi jet 1200
Mag 2400 as my return.
Returns are Herby method with 1 inch returns on each side that are split into two 3/4 lock line for each side.

Skimmer :ASM-G3
Apex-Neptune Controller.
4 AiSol with T5 supplement lighting
Tunzi ATO

Bio load:
1- Orange-Back Fairy Wrasse
1- Mystery Wrasse
1- Watchman Gobi
1- Sailfin/Algae Blenny
1- Royal Grammar
1- Picasso Clownfish
2- Blue/Green chromis
3- Maldives Lyretail Anthias

I was running a 40 breeder as a sump, refugium with 4 inch sand and trying to grow chato.

I have since removed my sandbed, chato and fuge.
I re- plumbed my tank and I now have a 40 breeder as a sump for my skimmer and I incorporated a 35gal settling tank with a conical bottom to remove detritus as soon as possible from my system (Remove organic compounds & prevent inorganic compounds)

I have no interest in having poop as a pet or feeding alge, micro alge, pods or anything except the higher up's ;)

And yes it was a light bulb moment for me ;)

I'm not saying a DSB can not work, with the right husbandry it can.
I also have no interest in getting into a debate about it, if you are happy with yours at the moment then that is great !!
"Happy Reefing"

Thanks for taking a look.

My setteling tank:
I originally wanted to go with a cylinder type like Geoff's but opted for the larger volum and 28 inch length, figured the detritus would have more time to settel? That and I didn't have enough hight under my stand ;)
