Whoa, wait a second.
How is your water so clear after putting in brand new dry rock and sand?
What technique (in detail).

I've seen people put down plastic bags inside the tank and it still doesn't look as clear as yours does.

Lol..Already done.
And Yeah, I know, I was thinking that.I have about 10" clearance. Was thinking of adding additional LED strip for more color and coverage.
Only other thing I can see possibly being an issue is the 2 AI's. Not becuase they are LED's (Lol) but it doesn't look like you have enough height within that canopy to run them and get adequate coverage unless you can possibly swap out the optics. Some of the other guys with AI's may chime in but a minimum of 12" AWl would be needed to evenly cover the tank.Judging from the picture of the canopy opened up it doesn't look like you have that to work with.

Now fill the dam thing Lol....

So today i tested my water and 0 ammonia, 0 Nitrite, 2.0 Nitrate and 7.9 PH.
best of all... Diatoms starting to show . not much but almost there...
it feels as if i have been waiting for ever, and i am so excited to see some nasty diatoms forming... now its time to buy quality test kits, (I have been using API for my cycle). planning to do a 30 - 40 gallon water change this weekend. cant see it too much in the pics. i will take more as it develops.

Question
The way I have my rocks aquascaped leaves about 3"- 4" of clearance from the back of the tank (my idea was to have more swimming space and having the caves lead somewhere) but now i'm doubting if I did the right thing. What do you guys think, should I move the rock work against the back glass or leave the way it is?

Thanks. I was just doubtful because I saw that a couple of members had it against the back and I wasn't sure if that was the preferred method... But after hearing what you have to say, I am pleased to leave it as is. And as far ai could tell, it its stable... I mean I tried to rock loose the pieces, and they did not move
Without seeing it to determine stability it's impossible to say. However, if I were to do the aquascape myself, I'd do it with the clearance in the back the way you did.

Russ

Well its been a while, and i haven't been able to find the time to update this thread since I've been extremely busy with work and school :eek1:. but alas, i am finally able to steal a few minutes, so here we go...

since i last posted, i changed the aquascape slightly to allow larger caves on the top. i was able to attend the frag swap where i met some great people and got some great frags. i brought the family out and everybody got to pick out something to put in the tank. O yeah, i finally got my mp40:sgrin:(thanks to Russ from Saltwater Critters).

And let me not forget, thanks to James for hooking me up with a frag of chalice, jcs11236 for frags of birds of paradise (my first frags) and THL for the xenia.

Here goes my pics, unfortunately taken with my cell phone. ill have to take better ones in the future.
