So it's been decided, Deep blue 80g frag tank with rim. I know rimless is sexy and such but the rim doesn't bother me.

I'll update this thread once I have the tank. It's going to be a peninsula type setup so I can view the 2 48in sides and one 24 inch side. Going to have to move the drain from the corner of the tank to the back center wall.

Pics to come!

Question...the tank I'm getting has an internal overflow box and is drilled in the bottom pane of glass. What is the best way to seal this off? I was thinking of using two panes of glass about 12 x 12 to seal off from both sides with silicone. Basically putting the two holes in the bottom between two pieces of glass. Would this be okay?

I'm going to add an external overflow box so I lose no room in the tank. What's the best way to drill the tank for an external overflow? I was thinking of a weir, with an acrylic sheet covering the back wall. Something similar to what i did here..safe on a 80g tank? I'll preserve the rim when I drill the tank, so I don't lose any support there, like I did with my 20g.

Why not go with a 4 foot 120 for the amount of space the 80 is going to take up? It's pretty much the same thing but you get 8 extra inches in depth which make it so nice to landscape and such

Plus scrap the ASM G4, used to love it at first but then I got a real skimmer and all that change. The euro reef is also ehhh in my opinion, but it's nice that it has such a tall neck. If anything go with a vertex skimmer, octopus skimmer or a bubble magus 7

E, ATO what is that? :lol2: Nope, still sitting right there ready to go. It'll be set up on the new tank for sure. That's the plan, huge skimmer and lots of fish. I was even thinking of modding it to be a recirc with 2 sedra 5000's and a small maxi jet for the feed...hmmm might really be overkill.

Noel, I think I'll get away with the light two, it's not lighting up much more area than it is now. It'd be 3 inches on either side front to back and 6 inches on either side from side to side. I'll keep the SPS under the light and softies.LPS off to the sides and under the middle brace.
