here is what i have planned for plumbing.

i want to use a ball valve & union on both return and drain

the 3 T's with ball valves are to be used for my phosban and carbon reactor and 1 extra for whatever i add one day :)

getting glass tom. thanks rich ;) sump will be siliconed tom.

getting real deal sch 80 bulkheads on thursday with the rest of the order so plumbing hopefully will be mostly done on thursday night :party:

Why do you want a union on your drain? Maybe if you had it above the ball valve so you could do maintenance on the valve? Personally i like the idea of an unimpeded drain, but I would recommend putting the union closer to the bulkhead on the tank.

+1000, I strongly agree with the unimpeded overflow. No union, no ball valve.

That's fine...but I would still put it as close to the bulkhead as possible. This way you can clean out that ball valve or get rid of it later if you decide.

As far as overflow maintenance, you should be able to remove the entire assembly while only draining the overflow to the bottom edge of your durso assembly, the same as if your return pump was shutdown. I can see the use of the ball valve if you wanted to disassemble the whole overflow...but even that should only be another gallon or two of water.

Order came in from brs. A lil change i have to put threaded to slip adapter onto both sch 80 bulkheads. can i primer and glue the sch40 and tighten it as tight as possible?

1/2" acrylic uv resistant rod came in. Will start rock tom.
