I haven't posted anything in a while so I thought I'd share some pics I took tonight. Ever since I moved a little over a year ago I've had setback after setback with the tank (You can see some before pics in my signature thread).
Most of my corals died in the move because it took over 12 hours to move the tank & get it set up again. Of course I had to keep tinkering with everything because I hate seeing the tank look like crap & just made it worse.
A few examples: I had great results with my 10 bulb ATI T5 fixture & decent results with my 1000w svigioli light, but of course convinced myself to switch to LED's. I spent tons of dough on a Vertex illumina fixture with I hated. It kept breaking & finally had to go through my Credit Card company to get the vendor to take it back. Went back to MH, this time with different bulbs (which needed a new fixture because of the ballasts). Now I'm using the ecotech radions which are pretty sweet, but it's still too early to tell.
I battled hair algae, diatoms, had heaters fail, dosing pumps fail, removed the sand bed/put it back, and had a leaking sump. I even tried to sell the whole system in a bout of desperation. Of course I lost tons of nice SPS's the whole time and instead of being patient I'd think the problem was fixed, buy more, then watch them wither. The funny thing is I've had a 150g mixed reef in my office for years that I completely neglect & it looks great!
Now I've been using Zeovit for almost a month & things look pretty stable. Here's a couple close-ups & a FTS. I'll keep adding to this thread if things stay good.
