I wanted to see for myself if LED's would work for me in my situation. So for the last 2 weeks the tank has had a single AI Sol Blue hanging over it. I'm running the 70 degree optics in the center 4 pucks and the 40 degree optics in the corners. And I have to say I LOVE IT. Growth, color and overall health of the tank has just gotten better with each day that passes. I did go and order the Hydra conversion kit for it which is due tomorrow so we will see what happens with that. But as of right now I can't see any reason for me to remove this light from my tank.

A whole 2 weeks?
Softies look great but to be honest I have had my AI's for over a year and a half and IMOP they are lacking something? Corals seem faded and I have played with different settings.
I'm going to try out a MH 20k radium bulb on my new 30 rimless biuld.

Your tank looks good best of luck I hope your happy long term ;)

Actually a month now ;)

LED's lack nothing as far as softies go and I continue to have better growth than I did with the 250MH. As far as SPS go take a look at Garys Reef and tell me LED's won't cut it on a mixed SPS tank. Biggest mistake people make when moving to LED's is not using enough of them and not giving the inhabitants enough time to get use to the different lighting. If we are being honest here the only thing I see lacking in LED lit SPS tanks are the reds/pinks. I'm happy with them. My tank is also 90% softies. So for me they are perfect. Flat colors? Sorry I don't have them.

These are some updated pics. These were taken straight off my Iphone5 at different times during the light cycle. NO PS or post processing....

Finished up my saltwater water change setup. A 10 gallon change now takes me less than 5-7 minutes to do start to finish. And I always have 15 gallons of fresh SW ready to go. And yes the filters were just changed after the pics were taken Lol.
