hammerhead that could be a little to big, if you are going to tee it off to run other equipment.I have a 265g with two 2inch hole in the back of my tank the pump i use is barracuda and that match my water flow going down in the sump. I rather have more water movement in the tank then the system. If you going to run a big pump then your sump should be real big
My sump will be 5' x 30" x 20"

thank you Cali. With all the head room between my basement and display i will adjust accordingly. will tee of pump if necessary to fee skimmer.also pump will have a ballvalve incase i need to turn it down a bit
An overflow length of 36" @ 1" tall will not handle 3,800 GPH.

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/drain.php?gph=3800&drain=Submit

2,000 GPH would be the most I would put thru this size overflow, you need a little safety margin in there.

dave just lmk when your ready. also i dont think you can run that much flow through the wavy sea's. and thats alot of return flow, making the flow though your sump awful fast for it to really to be getting the benifit's. also once it's switched you going to use the black tub for a dsb ?

Rick each wavy sea Plus can handle 3600gph and the regular one can handle 2300 and i'm using a reefflo dart which is about 3600gph on two wavysea's that handle 2300 so i should be fine, as for the flow in sump. my new sump was design to be a high flo sump. i will find a way to plumb the skimmer so it will have a slower water turn over rate so it can skim properly.

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=10 width=760 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR bgColor=#ffffff><TD bgColor=#cccccc>What is the maximum GPH for WavySea?</TD></TR><TR bgColor=#ffffff><TD>WavySea is a work of engineering genius. Our tests from over 200 locations have revealed that WavySea can handle maximum of 2,300 GPH (Gallons Per Hour)! But of course, no device should be driven to its max. It should be able to handle just about anything you throw at it! For those that require more flow, WavySea Plus+ can handle up to 3,600 GPH!!!
More about the maximum limit: 2,300 maximum GPH will vary depending on many factors. This includes water condition and even the climate of your residence (due to air pressure).
