Ernie,

Scrap off the silicone around the hole. Make sure the rubber gasket and the inside of the tank is clean, place it under the flange and insert the whole thing from the inside of the tank. run a bead of clear silicone on the outside (back wall) where the bulkhead comes through the glass before you put the nut on, don't over tighten the nut. It should not leak.

Don't mess around with the glass.

Thanks. The BH is probably overtightened plus I have another gasket on the outside which I am going to remove.

So far so good, we had 3 inches of snow last Saturday :lol2:. Good thing I been down in cali playing golf for the last two weeks.

BTW I talked to Mitch from Interamerican....Nice guy......You're absolutely right. The outside mirrored glass part has nothing to do with the leak at all....

He also said that taking off the mirrored back should take five minutes....razor blade and a vice grip and that's it......

I think I might change the mirrored back since it looks ugly but completely unecessary

Well yesterday I picked up about 90 lbs of live rock...+ I have some 60 lbs of base......so hopefully this gets me motivated...to move it along....

Still deciding on whether I want to take the mirrored back off.....Don't think it's worth the effort.....picked up a new hayward bulkhead re-siliconed around the bulkhead on the outside where the crack is and will place silicone on both sides of the rubber gasket as an extra precaution according to Mitch at IA.


I'm going to order some coralife salt, (3) 55 gallon brute cans, aragamax sand, and finnex heaters.......and should be good to go once I leak test again.....

Also thinking of picking up the following since the current durso standpipe I have setup can't be taken out of the overflow box very easily....
