Question on cycling a tank! Would putting in the aqua C Remora Skimmer speed this up or not help?
Or should I just let it happen natural?
Just asking since I have the thing sitting here and would like to test it out

Matt

off the walls

moved the rocks so nothing touching the sides
check out the two small pieces in the front left corner, one is a chicken leg shape and the other appears to be rock covered with old dead coral.

As long as you can get your Mag Float between the rock & the glass..it will make your life much easier!
Most L/R is formed from the skeletons of previously live corals :)

Looking good & good luck with the patience while waiting through the cycle!!

Friend told me that the Mag Float will scratch my tank, is this true or is it safe to use?
Also, any thoughts on the skimmer addition or hold off till tank has larger bioload?

PS - saw something last night that looked like a large copepod but darker?
hmmmmmm

I've never has an issue with a Mag Float scratching the glass, just make sure you don't get a grain of sand stuck between the 2 magnets and you'll be fine.

Was your LR already cured when you bought it? If so, you could add the skimmer. At worst it would make the cycle last a little longer but not much. If it wasn't cured, I'd wait a little bit.

If it looks much different than what you've already seen, best to post a pic in case it's a nogoodnik ;)

The rock was cured at the LFS already. As for that lil creature I will certainly try and get a picture of him.
Just went to a local book shop and got the Tullock book Natural Reef Aquariums for 10 bucks, great deal

LETS GO JETS

Lots of stuff is growing

hey everyone, so I have some interesting things growing and need advice. Bunch of brown stuff, some red stuff and a small two spots of green stuff. Is it time to add some CUC or just keep at it?
I just dont wanna have anything grow outta control

What are your parameters at this point..Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?
Can't add a CUC until after the cycle is finished.

The brown, red & green stuff (lol) is part of the algae cycle and to be expected :)
