don't they need to be stirred so they don't all settled to the bottom?

They dont settle that much; the food stays in suspension well but they can be swirled or shake every so often. If it ever turns into an issue; they can be removed from their containers, put into some glass lab flasks on mini magnetic stirrers.

or perhaps you can put the magnetic stirrers right in there..... rig up a radioshack toy/science project motors mounted into one single structure and hook up to a timer.

1st video of a series that I am doing to track the growth of Dendronephthya cuttings. This video was taken one day after the 1/2" cutting was removed. Today the piece looks better than when it was attached and greater than 1/2" expanded. (Vortech turned off while video was being taken)
