Hello!

I started with a 28 gal nc, went to a 65 gal, and finally upgraded to this 120. Here are some specs..

-120 gal, 4'x2'x2'
-tek 8x54 t5's
-Glass-holes dart overflow
-34 gal sump
-octo 200 skimmer - rated for 260 gallons
-mag 18
-20 long fuge, gravity fed
-vortech mp40w, getting another one next month!

I used roughly 140 lbs of dead sugar sized sand, and seeded it with 20lbs of pink figi live sand. I used all my rock from my 65 gal roughly 80-100lbs, and got about 30lbs of partially cured figi liverock. I used all 65 gallons of water from my existing tank.

The tank has been set up for about a week now. These pics were taken when I first filled it up. During this week, I had no traces of ammonia, trates, or trites. My pH is 7.8. I tested the water at least once a day. Water parameters are still the same as of 10:15pm today!

Do you guys think I will cycle? How long should I wait before I add any livestock?

Thanks!

theldo, do your all your tangs live peacefully in your 120? i am hesitant to have more than 1 tang.. what is the general rule behind that?

not at all, looks very nice! im very jealous look like u got plenty of space down there! lol

lol thanks! interior dimensions used to be 48"x34"x30" or something, but we cut it down. the tank looked really ugly with all the extra space around it. the system is at my parents place. my father has a really bad back, so he cant really lift things up. my original idea which was to have a sw reservoir for water changes. but i just got him a large python, and a mag 9.5.

Looks nice.... Cant wait till its up with fishes n corals what u plan on keeping in there ?

hey thanks! probably going to go with a mixed reef. as for livestock-
-Achilles Tang
-PBT--maybe, i do not want to stress out the achilles, i dont really like the idea of 2 tangs in a 120.
-trio of firefish--can i mix a purple, helfrichi, and a regular firefish together?
-mandarin dragonet
-picasso clown pair
-possibly blue spotted jawfish
-and maybe, a wrasse of some sort..

i had a hippo tang / yellow tang / kole tang once i tried the PBT he stressed the hell out my other fish shortly after that he kicked the bucket...dont think u should add it then again thats just me..that was maybe my luck with him yeah i know 4 tangs is alot for a 120 but ive seen smaller tanks with as much tangs...i stuck with the hippo / yellow tang..The achilles tang is a great pick up beautiful fish..
