If its a co-op they must have a superintendent. Hopefully he has been around awhile and might know the answer. Who knows, there could be other reefers in the building and if anyone would know it'd be the superintendent. Do you plan on putting the tank on an interior wall or exterior wall? Good luck.

Most condos/co ops do not allow tanks at all let alone that size. Especially if you are going to be on top of someone..if there is a leak you destroy the building and probably their stuff. I got my brother's tank from a guy in a condo, he had to sell it cuz they were giving him crap saying it was too big and the noise was bothering the downstairs neighbors, that was a 58 oceanic.
You better start looking for a nano because I'm telling you right now if you start asking for blueprints and showing concerns about having such a thing they will probably tell you to beat it or get rid of the tank even if you are already approved.

P.S. The floor would hold fine you just can't have it lol Good luck, try to get a townhouse instead if possible, not sure where you are looking but it's more your own and you can do whatever you want.

Having lived in coops most of my childhood, subletted condos most of my early adulthood, and now own a coop myself, I have always had a tank and never had a problem. I am subletting a coop right now until reno is finished, and had a 150 on the 19th floor for a little while, and now have two 60 cubes in the subletted coop. In my new apartment we just got board approval to put a 240 inthe wall. They just require you to have it covered in your policy. Where are you getting your information?

As for the weight of the tank, the 144 will weigh about as much as a really full bookshelf (maybe a bit more, but not a whole lot.). If you aren't worried about a big bookshelf, I am not sure you should stress too much about this. Ymmv
