When the fall comes my tank is exposed to direct to direct sunlight due to the position of the sun in relation to my window/tank and the fact the leaves fall off the tree which would otherwise block the light.

The sun exposure lasts only for a couple of hours.

Should I shade the windows to protect the sps corals in the sunlights path or should I welcome in the bright light? Somewhere in between perhaps?

I am just concerned with exposing the corals to a blast of sunlight when they are only acclimated to 250 watt metal halides. I don't want any brown out or bleaches.

It shouldn't be a blast of light since the leaves on the trees don't fall all at once, as well as the earth's revolution around the sun is gradual so each day it would only get gradually more minutes to hours with the sun. That, in itself is acclimation.
