I started on the invert page but I had no idea what I was doing as far as the coding, so I'm learning it. I'm also writing a lot of it before hand so I can transfer it easily. If anyone wants to collaborate on it send me a PM and we can figure it out.

The key with wikis (and it says this in the instructions) is you are supposed to just start writing and let things flow. The concept behind the wiki is that people will fix the content when it is identified as being incorrect.

The most easiest tag to use is the "[[ ]]" tag which creates a link to another page with the name in between the brackets. The page does not have to exist yet, so you can just put in the tags where you think they will go and someone else can fill them in later just by clicking on them.

If you want to put your content in I can add the tags so we can see how it is going. I've been framing things out in the major pages most of the day, so it is starting to get some feel to it.

I kind of really got into it and started browsing all the tags and commands to create lists and links so it initially took longer to get going. Plus, add to that all the different phylums and species and it gets to be a lot of stuff. I figured I'd start with the phylums and then start with individual species and that's where everyone could step in and add to it.

Would it be better to first create a spreadsheet of topics to write about?

Not really, a lot of different areas will be empty until users fill them in anyhow. Wikis work best when you just start somewhere, you'd never be able to complete even a rough table of contents without starting to get the content into place.

The best way is to pick an area you can add something to and start writing on a page as close to the main root page as possible (i.e. add content to the main topic pages first before getting into the details on a specific page). You can add all the links you want and put things in their places later, links to pages that don't exist actually help because they open up the editor when someone clicks on them. You can assume that other people will fix things up if you mess up.
